That is pure nonsense. If you had watched the hearing yesterday, you would know that. Republicans were completely free to say whatever they want and to question the witnesses.

 

Just how dumb is Trump? He wants to call leading Democrats in the impeachment proceedings as his witnesses. Don't believe me? Read this.

There was no mention of Mulvaney, Pence, Perry, Bolton, and Giuliani -- all key figures in the impeachment probe and close associates to Trump -- as witnesses in the Senate trial. However, there is this from NPR.

The witnesses were approved by the democrats. The republicans could only suggest witnesses. Only in third world counties are witnesses for the defense limited by the prosecution.

 

Not according to the rules they drew up at the start. Prolly the ones there yesterday were only there because all their questions got approved by the committee.

Trump was invited to send his lawyers and provide witnesses. He refused to do either.

Why is it Trump doesn't want anyone close to him to testify? Mulvaney, Pompeo, Perry, Bolton, Giuliani? Wouldn't they offer exculpatory evidence? Guess not.

Trump says Constitutionally mandated House controlled impeachment is a sham? Trump is making it a sham by personally making the impeachment proceedings one-sided. Failure to participate is consciousness of guilt.

When they declare they are going to impeach on the day he is inaugurated, it is a sham. The whole democratic effort has been looking for something to impeach. At one time, I might have understood, but it has become such an insane obsession, that I doubt everything the democrats have "found".

The Republicans have had an equal say in this since the beginning. Sometimes they have crossed the line, like asking about the identity of the whistleblower or staging a sit-in, but those infantile gestures don't count. Of course the majority party controls the proceedings, but that has been true since the invention of political parties.

 

Prove it. Who was on the list? The whistleblower? The Bidens? Tell us.

We could also throw in the misuse of a cigar. He would not have been impeached for consensual sex. However, he lied about it and likely would have gotten away with it except for the blue dress.

Had you watched the testimony? With respect, it doesn't appear that you did. Everyone had equal time at the microphone, everyone was free to question the witnesses. The fact that Republicans instead chose to grandstand and pontificate about the unfairness of it all was their right, but it accomplished nothing. The Dems were asking questions, the Republicans were making speeches. That has been their behavior throughout the investigation.

It has been clear from the beginning, that the Republican purpose was to disrupt, stall, attack, and belittle a Constitutional process. They even stormed the security of a closed session with a childish and asinine pizza party. May of the purveyors of the pizza party were supposed to be in the closed session. Instead they chose to be juveniles. This has been their modus operandi through the process. The reason for this is quite simple, they have nothing of substance to refute the facts.

 

And you will show up here supporting the not guilty verdict?

 

This has never been an investigation. It reminds me of when the Klan hung blacks. First hang them and proceed to allege a time to learn the truth.

As to Democrats asking questions, pal that is not the merit of any so called investigation. Democrats grandstand against Trump.
