But despite winning the poll, Greta Thunberg (sp?) was named Times person of the year, despite receiving less than 4% of the votes and finishing 5th in the online poll behind Keanu Reeves. Not that it matters, but everyone needs constant reminders that the media is biased and will do whatever they can to push their agenda. On a related note, Hitler also won Times person of the year. More than 30% of visitors to the 2019 poll selected the Hong Kong protestors, who have staged mass demonstrations in the semiautonomous city since June. The protests initially began in response to a controversial extradition bill, but have since grown into a outright rebellion demanding greater autonomy from China. The protestors prompted the Hong Kong government to formally withdraw the bill, and have been credited with inspiring a record turnout at local elections held in November. But the demonstrations have grown more belligerent in recent months, as police have used increasingly aggressive tactics to confront a more radical core of protestors willing to use violence to achieve their goals. TIME editors decide who is selected as the Person of the Year — an individual or group who, for better or worse, had the most influence on the world. This year, the climate change activist Greta Thunberg was named the Person of the Year, partly in recognition of the growing influence of youth demonstrators around the world on a variety of issues. https://www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/5747261/person-of-the-year-2019-reader-poll-results/?amp=true
If the choice was Greta and Trump, Greta should have won. Between Greta and the HK Protestors though? I'd have given it to HK.
Greta is a child with no real world experience. Chance are she’s going to regret this time in her life when she’s older We all did stupid stuff when we were children!
She's an 'uneducated' child with no real world experience. She's literally a puppet who can memorize lines and was born with a natural scowling sneer. Recently she's been complaining that no one is listening to her.
That's the problem with media, they shove so much and to fast down the throats of the readers/viewers that they simply puke it up and never want to see it or taste it again..
Not me. Except for the times I was placed on probation as a minor for high school pranks. 40+ years ago. Did I say that out loud?!?
The only thing that can be objectively concluded from their choice for 'Person of the year' is their target demographic. And that has always been the case.
