Though I am concerned for the culture.....concerned is a better word than "afraid", in no way do I believe the purpose of God and the Body of Christ will be thwarted. My children and their children live in this culture.
the best example of this distinction between a civil vs religious contract is the Mormon version of marriage..., which is significantly more comprehensive than a civil marriage.... to the extent that, in Mormon terms, a civil marriage is essentially no marriage at all..
If a man and women get married, and they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they are married in the eyes of God. They can do it in a cornfield, You display a crucifix with Jesus affixed to it as your avatar. On my crucifix, He is no longer there. He has risen from the dead and is alive and operative. Is that our difference?
I agree. So you don't think that the millions of people who have been married by Justices of the Peace and Ship's Captains are automatically married in the eyes of God?
Not at all. The point is, without the resurrection, the rest is meaningless. The cross is a symbol of death but Christ is alive.
We differentiate between one man and one women committed to one another and their children for life, with that of same sex unions. One is marriage, the other is not. The culture sends the message there is no difference. That is my belief and I stand by it. You can give your blessings to homosexual unions and equate it with marriage. I just don't see it that way. I teach children God's Word, and I find it confusing to them when our motto says "In God We Trust" yet we mock His institutions.
What about one atheist man and one atheist women committed to one another and their children for life? Is that marriage? Well I equate it to CIVIL marriage, because that is what the law sees it as - that is a simple FACT. If you're living in reality, then you will also acknowledge this.
That is why we take Him off the cross. It symbolizes His death, but He is elsewhere. Sometimes His shroud is depicted as draped across the cross member.
So you still ??? We've been through this. You confuse my belief with the law of the world. I said earlier, God must be a part for it to be "marriage". I just disagree that homosexual unions are the same. Then call it "civil union". You argue semantics and like to !
What is the difference between a non-Christian opposite sex married couple and a same sex married couple? Yeah okay, but then surely you should also call non-Christian marriages "Civil Unions." Do you?
Marriage is intended to be between a man and a women. Scripture says it was that way from the beginning. Of course you are free to disagree with that and most of the secular world does.
We have always equated it is between a man and a women. God even honors marriage among unbelievers I believe. I know there is a remedy for those that are unequally yoked. There is always hope that they will believe.
My God is more powerful than your god, and She says She's just fine with same-sex marriage and She helped the Supreme Court see it that way as well. If your god had been more powerful, he would have swayed the Court against same-sex marriage. End of story.
