Will You Still Vote For Trump If He Gets Impeached?

House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment against Trump on Tuesday, saying he had abused the power of his office and obstructed Congress in its investigation of his conduct regarding Ukraine.

The U.S. President will face a trial in the Senate probably in January.

Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are both looking ahead to the Senate impeachment trial, but there is a growing divide between the two over what that trial should look like.

The foreign minister of an unfriendly power met with Trump in the Oval Office for the second time. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is in Washington for a scheduled meeting and met with Trump in the Oval Office on Tuesday.

The president of an American ally, Ukraine, fighting the aggression of that hostile foreign power has not met with Trump in the White House. Trump has refused to meet with Zelensky.

The DOJ’s inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, rejected one of Trump’s main attacks on the F.B.I. and declared the bureau had adequate reason to investigate the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia. Trump's A.G., Bill Barr, strongly disagrees with his own I.G.'s report. Trump attacked his own FBI director for supporting the report.

Vladimir Putin must be enormously pleased by all this.

Judging from posts by Trump's fans, they, too, seem to be quite pleased with Trump's performance.

It would appear that Trump's fans are incapable of thinking beyond 2020.

Throughout his entire President, a majority of Americans have disapproved of Trump's performance. Trump is the least popular President in modern American history. The GOP has lost several key elections in 2018 and 2019 and they lost control of the House because of Trump.

In other words, in all likelihood Trump will lose in 2020.

Trump's fans ignore all the evidence -- they avoid it, actually -- and insist that Trump is innocent. They are totally unaware of the consequences of that judgment.

Most likely in 2021 a Democrat will become President. If not in 2021, then 2025, or at some point a Democrat will be in the Oval Office.

If Trump is declared innocent of asking a foreign government to intervene in our election on his behalf, if Trump is declared innocent of using bribery as an incentive, if Trump is declared innocent of obstructing justice when he clearly defied Congress, then Democratic Presidents will be allowed to continue the practice.

That possibility exists as early as Jan. 20, 2021. Do Trump's fans really want to grant that kind of power to Democratic Presidents?

Trump supporters will still vote for Trump no matter what. They'll spin the impeachment into some kind of deep state narrative where Trump must be "doing something right" if the "establishment" wants to remove him. The narratives have been flowing since his first campaign.

This is certainly true. What problem? Jeez, I have no idea what the problem is. I've been told that there is a problem, but have no idea what that is. Something to do with Ukraine and not giving them my money before certain things are sorted out? I don't care about Ukraine, and I'm guessing lots of Americans feel the same way.

I've heard about an abuse of power that happened in Ukraine, but why should that worry me? The democrats are very short on answers to that fundamental problem. So Trump asked Ukraine to dig up dirt on Biden? A democrat running for President? Isn't this just opposition research? That's something that everybody does.

If democrats want to be taken seriously, they need to stop coming across like I'm stupid.

I was wondering... Do you think the dems will initiate some kind of investigation into Zelensky for denying he was being extorted? I'm sure they can think of some way to label that as an international crime or something. Or maybe they will just settle for smearing his reputation in the Ukraine, so the country can be honest again. What do you think the charge should be? Failing to cooperate in a congressionally approved witch-hunt? Obstructing kangaroo justice, interfering in our politics, or maybe contempt of democrats?

Has it ever occurred to you that Putin may be "enormously pleased" by ...

No they won't. He could commit mass murder in an elementary school, then burn down the church next door and bomb a hospital and Moscow Mitch and friends would not find a high crime or misdemeanors in any of it. They have turned this 'trial' into a total farce with their own statements before they ever sit down to listen to the testimony. . They are so scared of their base, they cannot keep urine from hitting their pants when they go back home. There is zero point in sending the House managers over to even begin an opening statement.

We should impeach, send the articles over and not even bother appointing House Managers. Let the Senate declare a mistrial absent prosecutors, and move on.

I thought quid pro quo bribery seasoned with treason would be article 3. But that would have put Biden in jeopardy.

One thing wrong with your pic. In 2020 and after the lady should be outlined in images that denote more rage...or perhaps tears? Maybe both?

Except they didn't, did they, or they would have set up an impeachment committee two days after the Mueller Report was made public. Matter of fact, your biggest clue that you are wrong, came in their choice of Speaker. Pelosi was just as adamant that Trump not be impeached as she was Clinton and Bush despite the whining of several of her more progressive members. Yet the House caucus picked as Speaker someone who they knew would undermine and marginalize all calls to impeach Donald Trump and derail any formal effort, just as she did Bush, until Trump decided to extort Ukraine , using federally authorized aide, until it decided to create its own disinformation campaign against Trump's likely opponent, just as Putin decided to create a disinformation campaign against Hillary.

Dems in the House collectively did not have anything like that call included in the Mueller report, so the majority did not seek or ask him to be impeached. That call showed that Trump still fully intends to copy Putin's playbook again and be more proactive himself to undermine the legitimacy of the very tool ( the 2020 election), that Americans hoped would take care of this mess. This time he isn't going to leave the dirty work to a bunch of campaign underlings like he did in 2016. He's going to use his office as President to force a more reluctant Ukaine to do what Putin was itching to do last time.

The real reason the Senate won't vote to impeach, has nothing to do with the validity of the case, its that they think they will be out on their asses if they don't cowtow to Trumpsters in their own party.

I don't vote for personal reasons but I will vote for Trump if he is impeached. If he isn't, I won't bother.

It's not a sham to impeach a president for seeking a sham investigation of a political rival by a foreign country in order to muddy the waters and aid his own campaign. I say again: Trump sought foreign interference to aid his 2020 campaign. This comes after he openly invited the Russians to hack Hillary's emails and openly praised WikiLeaks for dumping stolen emails during the 2016 election.

Then there is his obstruction of Congress. There is no denying that he has been engaged in doing just that. He has been engaged in one coverup after another ever since his initial campaign, when he refused for illegitimate reasons to release his tax returns, and he has not let up since.

This is an assumption. You have no evidence that shows that Trump asked Ukraine, or China to investigate the Biden's in order to "muddy the waters and aid his own campaign".

    Prove it.

Except of course the whole world knew that Hillary no longer had her email servers as they had been shut down and moved to a company favorable to the DNC to go through them. It was also after she had one of her techs use bleachbit on them to scour them of any evidence. As such there was nothing that could have been hacked. And everyone with a brain knew it.

So? Lots of people praise Wikileaks...except those who get their information and those with an agenda of keeping everything hidden. I would bet that if Russia had gotten into the RNC servers instead of the DNC servers and leaked them to WikiLeaks the Dems of today would be praising WikiLeaks while admonishing the RNC for their skeletons. Funny thing is that the FBI had warned both the DNC and the RNC about Russian hacks long before the DNC was hacked. The only reason that the RNC wasn't hacked is because they listened to the FBI while the DNC did not. Because Russia DID try and hack them...but failed.

Using the court system =/= Obstruction of Congress. Unfortunately for the Dems in the House Trump is well with in his Rights to not release any information to them and make the Dems go through a court battle to get it. That's one of the reasons that we have 3 branches of Government...not 2.

Little hint for you...Trump doesn't have to release his tax returns. There is no law that says he has to so Trump can make up any excuse he wants whether its legitmate to you or not. Besides, what the hell are his tax forms going to tell you? They certainly aren't going to tell you whether or not he colluded with Russia or Ukraine or anyone else. Tax forms are generalized and many many MANY things can all be labeled under a few categories. They're not a complete, or even a half way, detail of everything anyone, much less Trump, does with their money. About all that its really good for is for telling how much X person makes in a year and how much they pay in taxes.

    Nope, never. Why?

At Helsinki I didn't reject American intelligence and side with Putin because he sounded sincere. Trump did.

I didn't remove the U.S. from the Iranian nuclear agreement, freeing up Russia's ally to resume nuclear research. Trump did.

I didn't unilaterally declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel and move the American embassy there, causing the U.S. to be removed as a broker in Middle East talks to be replaced by Russia. Trump did.

I didn't declare climate change to be a Chinese hoax and remove the U.S. from the Paris Accord where 197 nations are fighting global warming. Trump did. Russia is a major emitter.

I didn't order a retreat in Syria, causing the deaths of hundreds and causing thousands to abandon their homes, while allowing Russian troops to occupy American bases and increasing Russia's influence in the Middle East and reducing ours. Trump did. Fortunately, the Pentagon is overruling Trump and undoing much of the damage he caused, but the Pentagon can't bring people back from the grave or rebuild people's homes.

I am not creating havoc within the federal government, Articles of Impeachment, Senate trial, while our congressmen and Senators are at each other's throats. Trump is.

I could go on, but I am sure you get the point.

After the July 25 phone call with Zelensky, as he usually does, Trump doubled down on the Biden investigation. On Oct. 3, in a news conference on the White House lawn, he called on Ukraine and China to look into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

If they were honest about it, they would start a major investigation into the Bidens,” Trump said when asked what he wanted Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to do about the former veep and his son.

“They should investigate the Bidens,” Trump said. “Likewise, China should start an investigation into the Bidens, because what happened in China is just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.”

And in ANY of that did he mention the election or anything related to it? Or was he talking about the possible corruption that for some reason Dems don't want investigated?
