Again, the obvious question of "so what?" must be asked with regard to the above. What ultimate, meaningful difference, does such actually make?

Is it being argued on the part of yourself that if the act of suicide was regarded as a sin in the nation of Japan, the nation would make a greater effort at preventing suicides from being committed?

Sadly those on the left really don't give a s#!t about anyone but their quest to control people that have nothing to do with crime by vilifying an inanimate object because it's easy. They reject any real ideas outright because it would take hard work.

Indeed, in USSR during Great Purges about 861,000 people were shot, which is worse then 572,000 lives lost to guns in USA 1999-2016. USSR was on a brink of War with Germany, so drastic measures were taken to ensure industrialization.

About 500,000 people with severe mental disability are incarcerated in USA. Here.

I apologize for the brevity of my answers -- I must not use a computer mouse bought for $5. If USA had Welfare State, I would have used a wireless mouse for $35 and it would have served years.

PS. With new batteries it seems to be working better!

Sad but true. I never thought of suicide. That is for people with Severe Depression.

With Moderate Depression, I only engage in unhealthy lifestyle.

Another drop in the bucket compared to the U.S. population, and those with mental illness's.

You are making anthills into mountain's and convincing no reasonable person into thinking what you believe actually matters in the larger picture.

Which is why you used such a large number of years in your first claim.

Forgive me my cynicism. Death of 572 people is a tragedy. But it is a small number.

Death of 572,000 people is a MegaTragedy. It is a Democide.

I am not stupid. My official title since 1992 is High Functioning Autistic. Some Autistics have low IQ, Aspies have normal IQ.

Most people in USA are Christian, Jewish, or Muslim. All of them believe in Sanctity of Human Life.

    Atheism is different.

It in the large picture means nothing, you are inflating a subject way beyond reality.

By the way if you had a clue, you would realize that term is not applicable to your argument.

Maybe learn a bit of grammar?

Democide is causing death to a large number of people. 572,000 violent deaths in 17 years is a democide.

572,000 lost lives is a national tragedy. In Vietnam, USA lost 58,000 soldiers.

Democide is a term proposed by R. J. Rummel since at least 1994 who defined it as "the intentional killing of an unarmed or disarmed person by government agents acting in their authoritative capacity and pursuant to government policy or high command"

That's what happens when gov has all the guns.
    You're way off base

It's a drop in the bucket and meaningless considering the time frame involved.

Then why do so many individuals, even those who claim to be religion, choose to willingly and readily engage in behavior that directly endangers the well being of others by simply being in the area?

I noticed this Post of yours earlier but have been too busy to comment on it until just today.

First of all, I appreciate your courageous candor and am glad that you have appropriate care for what is a very little understood and debilitating condition. At least you know about and admit the things that are doing you harm which, as you know, is a critical step toward recovery.

Of the many people I have known who suffer from severe depression, most have one thing in common. They tend to see a glass of water as half empty rather than half full as the expression goes.
In other words, depressed people see inanimate objects in a negative light just as they usually expect a negative outcome from any undertaking.

Along the same lines, you apparently view firearms as solely instruments of death while those of us who appreciate a relaxing afternoon of target shooting among good friends view firearms in a positive light and shared mutual interest.

We enjoy discussing the latest gadgets, the most accurate ammunition and related esoteric minutiae just as golfers enjoy their sport and discuss the most recent developments in golf clubs etc.

I don't expect to change the impressions you have about firearms but only hope to show that firearms are not inherently and exclusively negative objects useful only for killing.

I wish you luck in enjoying life more fully and hope that some day soon, you will begin to see that the glass really is half full.

Thank G-d, I suffer only Moderate Depression. Thus, I would never harm myself directly. I do overeat deeply fried food. I am addicted to reading online arguments.

Thank G-d and my parents, I am not at liberty to take any alcohol.

572,000 lives may be a small percentage of US Population, but every life lost is a tragedy.

In a world that is already significantly overcrowded as it is, especially in a country that is significantly overcrowded, it is very difficult to regard any loss of life due to personally exercised choices as being a tragedy. They made the decisions to end their own existence, they followed through because they regarded such as the best course of action for themselves to engage in. If such is regarded as a tragedy, then the term is being tossed about far too lightly and needs to be subjected to significant reexamination to understand the true context of the term.
