Democrat mayor of Ocean Springs inadvertently lets slip her hatred for the military. Young dude appears from out of nowhere. She be gone, he's got the corner office.

She then runs for statewide office. Nothing there for her. Trounced.

The forum member I was replying to said he was a soldier and I was thanking him for his service. I am also grateful to the pardoned soldier for his willingness to be placed in the situation that resulted in his conviction. I can't claim to know his state of mind any more than you and the other member can claim to know there was malice.

I don't claim to know anything other than he was convicted of murder by a military tribunal. Again, do you and Trump know something the military was unaware of when they court martialed and convicted this murderer?

....and pardoned by the Commander in Chief, thank goodness. Reminds me of Eric Holder persecuting cops for doing their jobs.

I know that our justice system grants immunity to those willing to testify against a bigger target.

"One of Lorance's defense attorneys, lawyer and author Don Brown, published a book in 2019 entitled Travesty of Justice, in which he argued that the Army did not permit the jury to consider evidence showing that Afghan National Army soldiers accompanying Lorance's patrol began firing at the motorcycle first, and kept biometrics evidence from the jury suggesting the motorcycle riders were Taliban bombmakers.

The DNA from the men shot were linked to IED's found later. This evidence was not allowed to be presented.

Neither was the fact that the day prior, men on motorcycle had shot and killed members of their platoon."

Sounds like the whole prosecution should have been declared a mistrial.

How does this remind you of that? Eric Holder wasn't in the military. Neither were the cops. Are you claiming the military tribunal was "persecuting" this guy? Doesn't that seem pretty far-fetched?

In September 2015, defense attorneys filed a petition with the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals for a new trial, claiming that evidence linking the two killed Afghans to terror networks was left out of Lorance's court-martial,[9] but the court ruled in June 2017 that the evidence would not have been permitted at trial, and even if it had, it would not have helped Lorance's case.

The psycho was sentenced in a fair process that took 4 years by brave soldiers.
    Support your troops guys.

People shouldn't think military lawyers or the brass have an automatic empathy with the troops at the sharp end, if they ever saw combat it was a very long time ago and often under very different circumstances (the current senior leadership would be the Gulf War generation where things were much more clean cut).

Also there's the old military standby of doing this to maintain discipline which I understand and Trump pardoning guys rather messes this up, probably because he never served in the military and doesn't realise its' importance (GW whilst equally pro the troops never did this but he HAD been a military officer).

Then again this explains why Trump is so popular with the forces, they know he genuinely has their back.

Common sense tells me he should be applying at private security firms not Walmart.

Cops and soldiers are both groups the LW loves to hate.

Yes, probably a bunch of Obama holdovers.
