it doesn't make it a law. it strikes down a law as unconstitutional. texas thought it could secede from the union. they were wrong.

    it can not

Great- can you cite the text in the constitution that we've asked you to cite? Just cite it in your next response in bold so we can verify your claims that it's in the constitution.

I did. It's what you just quoted. If there's confusion on your part, let me know. We can retrace the steps to help you get back on track!

You cited a ruling. If you claim the text in the Constitution that states a State cannot secede is in there...just cite it in your next response. Please let me know if this is too difficult. I feel like I'm asking a VERY easy thing of you.

If your next response fails to cite the Text of the Constitution that can verify your claims...we know you cannot verify your own claims.

The choice is yours. If you fail to cite the text in the constitution that you claim is there- we will not feed your bait any longer.

My guess? You will continue to not cite it.

You produced a silly ruling on bonds

No where in the Constitution says states are not free to leave the union

Let us not feed these folks anymore. Let's move on. Some folks can't back up their claims and simply QUOTE what they are claiming is in the constitution. These folks need not be fed! lol

Supreme Court rulings aren’t mud. They are binding legal precedent. States can not secede. Texas v white. Sorry.

Sorry, but I have already cited the language that explicitly allows any of the sovereign states to leave the union

Blah-blah-blah. Never made that claim. Thus, no need to quote text.

Hallucination is never good repartee in Debate Forums ...

More one-liner inane rebuttal of which this forum is far too replete.

    Moving right along ...

I can't refute anything if you don't make a point. You've offered nothing and the best rahl could come up with is a court ruling (which can always be overturned) that only says states can't leave unilaterally. Nither of you has been able to cite any law or the Constitution to backup your arguments.

I wasn't speaking to you- you replied to a comment I made to ANOTHER user that DID make that claim- and THEN I responded to you...
I think you need to re-read this thread. You seem to be confusing yourself. Do you need a play-by-play of our discussion and how you entered it?

The constitution IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. There is no article in the constitution that permits a state to leave it.

So, suppose that one silly-state somehow unilaterally decides to "leave". Have you any idea in your noggin of just how that should be implemented and what the economic consequences might mean?

It just wont work because the key-feature of a unified Market-Demand is what keeps the country unified economically viable - and not some law. It is the simple fact that the economy is just one huge bundle of Supply&Demand. And were that bundle ever to come apart, then there is all hell to pay.

Besides, should that ever happen, the US would have no common defense against an enemy.

My Point: Take that "bundle" apart, and the states will all return economically to the Stone Age - that's just common-sense. And such a common-sense is the reason why Europe has also done the same as did the US - because such a nation-system "works"...

Why would a state need permission to leave in the land of the free?

Why the hell would a state join the Union if it didn't have an option to leave?
