And another victim of no nothing about business and economics liberal politicians and their "I'm from the government and here to help" actually hurting not only business and the local economy but the working people. They were warned but Nooooo we'll just increases wages by government fiat and then brag about what a great job we did making life better for everyone.

    Seattle’s Wage Mandate Kills Restaurants
The legal minimum is going to $16.39 an hour, while my pay drops to zero.

This city’s minimum wage is rising to $16.39 an hour on Jan. 1. Instead of receiving a bigger paycheck, I’m left without any pay at all due to the policy change. That’s because the restaurant where I’ve worked for six years is closing as a consequence of the city’s harmful minimum-wage experiment.....

When rent is too high, labor costs too much, and customers don’t want to pay $40 for a roast-chicken entree, the only way for many operators to ease the pain is to close...

...Mr. Douglas is trying to find a role for my co-workers and me at another restaurant in his group, but I’ve started applying for other open positions around town. I landed an interview at a restaurant called Super Bueno, owned by another established chef, Ethan Stowell. Before I could even confirm the interview, Mr. Stowell announced that he will close down Super Bueno at the end of the year. He’s also closing or restructuring two other restaurants.

You'd have to be an idiot to open a restaurant there.

Well for better for worse if a restaurant has to close as a result probably was performing on the weak end of things vs their competitors anyway.

    just sayin.

And I do think it's a bit of a stretch to say people don't want to pay $40 for a roast chicken, that's 5 star price. I'm pretty cheap so when I go out to eat I get roast chicken pretty often and it's usually 12 to 20 bucks.

I'd rather get the 6.99 roto at the grocery and make 3 meals instead

You're right -- and besides, who are restaurant owners going to find to work for them in lib-infested places like Seattle, San Fran, etc., etc.?

A large percentage of the working-age population has gotten themselves ensconced in welfare programs, 'disability', and other scams -- so they won't want to work at all unless it's "under the table" where they don't run the risk of screwing up their welfare handouts.

Another large group of the working-age population, truthfully, NOT very sanitary. Your server has panels of 'tats' all over the arms, hands, legs, and neck? And at a time when all three varieties of hepatitis are spreading like wildfire all over the country? You won't catch lymphoma cancer from them after they come down with it from the 'tat' ink, but hep is very, very infectuous! What about the cooks in the restaurant's kitchen? Some of them are REAL beauties, too....

Plus, how many of even nice restaurants are surrounded by homeless bum 'compounds' in the big lib cities, where the whole area for several square blocks is regularly covered in piss, sh*t, vomit, garbage, insects, vermin, and diseases of all kinds...? OH, YEAH! I'm just dying (literally) to jump in the car and go pay a ton of money to get a heaping helping of THAT!

[IMG]. "Sure I 'wiped'... and only a couple of days ago, too...." :knifefork:

Doesn't this law and minimum wage only apply to large employers with over 500 employees???

    Great point.

$16 Billion could go a long way toward breaking the fall.

    Oh? I forgot.

Trump ONLY gives money to people when he can BUY their votes.

    Washington State isn't his thing.

80% of restaurants fail in their first 4 years ... everywhere in the country - $15 per hour or not. Just the way it is.

Good restaurants will stay open. They've survived minimum wage increases before.

Look at all the deflections above. "Yes, but Trump..."

I live in Los Angeles and our min wage is $15.00.

2 parking attendants in my building have already been replaced by pay stations.

I ordered my McDonalds coffee on a touch screen.

My supermarket have individual hand scanners allowing me to scan each item as I pit it in the cart. My credit card is on file, so I can just click "checkout" and never have to wait in line or see a human.

An EMT makes about $15. per hour. Why would anyone expose themselves to bodily fluids when they can make the same money flipping burgers?

Sure. It is the marginal ones that working class people can afford that will go out of business.

The wage applies to grocery stores. The $6.99 chicken could go to $12.99.

Who needs restaurants anyway? Let’s just open government soup kitchens.

    Thing is....
When paid that little, that you can't manage to make a living with it....
than the government steps in and gives you a handout.

makes total sense the government demands companies pay enough to make a living...
and make people get jobs that pay such prices at companies willing to pay.

Really. Working a full time job and still get foodstamps... that's just giving aid to companies to hand out to their employees.

You either mandate the employer pay a living wage or you make taxpayers makeup the difference or you let people starve to death in the streets??And you still continue claiming you are Christians regardless of which option you select.

Only place I'm getting a $12 Roto chicken is Whole Foods, well correction... someone, not me.

dont get me wrong, I think 15+ is aggressive and will cost people jobs. but first it will weed out the businesses that were not thriving in the first place

starving in the street sounds a bit drama queenish, what % of people employed full time are starving to death in the street?
