It sounds like we agree. I live in Los Angeles and our minimum wage is $15.00 Jan 1. The 2 parking attendants in my building have already been replace by pay stations. I went into McDonalds for a coffee and had to use a touch screen to order. The supermarket has individual hand scanners I take into the store and I scan each item when I put it in the card. My credit card is already on file, so I just click "checkout" and never have to wait in line for a human. Is this helping the workers?

The 15% tariffs on 120 billion are cut in half.

Im not complaining. Even if a human worker cannot be replaced by a machine, the additional pay would just be eaten up by higher prices. The only one who gets a raise is the government!

Or is it helping the workers when everything costs more due to minimum wage hikes?

I'm really surprised. The market gave this a big ho hum. Must be total BS.

Why are these subsidies suddenly unreasonable while the current subsidies are not?

When the government shows up to help, we know what comes next.

When I was a kid, I worked in a bike shop for less than minimum wage. I learned to repair bikes and how to weld/braze. Today, that shop owner would be considered a criminal.
