Thanks for the support, insane any Trump supporter would not support the man who is basically a better Trump that covers Trump’s weaknesses on immigration, the environment, and civil liberties.
I mean money is not everything but a candidate that combines trumps strengths with strengths of his own should be indomitable. Bloomberg is atleast 10x richer than Trump. To say Bloomberg would not make the economy better is daft

I thought I heard something about open, fair and impartial coming from that secret chamber.... but now... I think it must have been the rats farting or something.

It's not money- it motivation, purpose dedication. I haven't done much new research on Bloomberg- but I don't think he's got what it takes to fill the shoes here. Some of what I know-

Bloomberg was a lifelong democrat, until he switched parties to run for office. At a later point, he left the republican party and entered his next election as an independent. He was only a republican for six years of his career, now apparently thinking of using that label again. Is he still a democrat in republican clothing? Or just whatever is convenient?

He's also 4 years older than Trump who is 73 today, elected at 70. Bloomberg would be 79 shortly after inauguration if he won. Currently the oldest elected president was Ronald Reagan - he began his second term at age 73. Bloomberg would be entering a first term almost two years older than Reagan was when he left office. It would seem unlikely the voters would fail to see the age issue as posing a substantial number of risks.

His money has come from equity trading, which he first did for the Solomon investment bank. His own company makes most of it's money today, selling subscriptions to a financial data service- at more than $20,000 a year. Bloomberg has accumulated his wealth being part of and servicing the most opportunistic money manipulators. While Trump builds businesses that provide tangible serivces and employ thousands of people, Bloomberg became wealthy by helping the very rich get even richer. I don't think that will appeal to the majority of voters either.

Looks to me like he's not a viable candidate.

Well they did it. Without citing a single crime--the Constitution specifies that impeachment is to be done in the case of treason, bribery, or other high CRIMES and misdemeanors--on a straight line partisan vote--the Democrats in the Judiciary have sent the articles of impeachment to the full House. It will require 18 Democrat defections to vote down those articles, and the conventional wisdom is that 18 Democrats won't dare defect.

It remains to be seen at this time whether the Senate Judiciary will call any witnesses--Lindsey Graham is maintaining to do so would give credibility to the bogus articles of impeachment. Whether the full Senate will do so also remains to be seen. They could throw it out entirely as invalid or do what the President wants, i.e. drag all the fact witnesses before the Senate and exonerate the President while thoroughly embarrassing the Democrats.

I am torn on that. Give a bogus impeachment credibility? Or take it seriously and use it to turn against them. I will listen to more arguments before making up my mind about that.

    Meanwhile:

If we don't use this opportunity to shine a bright light on the roaches, they'll scurry back under the furniture and justice will never be served. I say go for it. :boxing:

Wow. Barron is just 13 and already taller than his dad? I wonder if he plays basketball? Because he will likely top out at 6'6" or better.

Lindsey Graham is a Republican with whom I have both agreed with and disagreed with over the years. We are still on opposite sides when it comes to foreign interventionism. And yet I loved his performance in the Kavanaugh hearings, and he has been a strong supporter of President Trump.

On this topic, I'm with Graham.

We have said all along that the House impeachment hearings have been a politically inspired witch hunt from Day One. We have harshly criticized Shiff and Nadler for running these kangaroo courts - kangaroo courts that never even had a scintilla of fairness or impartiality. Those two ran their sham hearings according to a playbook straight out of North Korea, didn't they? Isn't that what we've been saying all along?

And so, right now, as these impeachment articles are sent to the Senate, let's not give the Shiff-Nadler sham process any legitimacy. If we go through the process of a long, drawn out trial, like it or not, we will give a level of legitimacy to the Shiff-Nadler proceedings that they don't deserve. If the vote in the Senate is a foregone conclusion, why would we want a long drawn out process in the Senate unless our side was no better than their side? For wouldn't we then be simply trying to use the process for our political gain just like the Democrats did in the House? Are we the same as them, or are we better than them?

And let's not forget an old saying - born in warfare - that the best laid plans go to hell as soon as the bullets start flying.

So I say the Senate should make short shrift of the Articles of Impeachment. Allow the House manager time to make a speech for an hour. Allow for a rebuttal for an equal amount of time. And then take a vote, put this thing to bed, and allow the Country - and the Trump presidency - to move on.

    Seth

Seth, I fully agree. While it would be of substantial interest to call up Schiff and others to help expose the bad actors in the abuses that have gone on in congress, defending the claim would in effect give it some credibility, and that would be a shame.
Should be dismissed by the senate, just as a judge might dismiss a malicious lawsuit as frivolous and without substance. I think that would make as good a statement about the validity of all this as can be obtained. Leave the criminal stuff to Durham; I suspect that we may see enough out of that to convince any doubters that this has been a malicious conspiracy and a witch hunt.

Then.... We wait to see what the next manure wagon they drag out will be loaded with. Each time they do that, they lose ground, and they lose supporters.

Yes, agreed. And I really think the mood of the majority of Americans is to move on. We are tired of all this! We have other issues on the agenda that should be dealt with.

And besides, there is an election in 11 short months. If the People want to remove Trump then, they can.

I'm thinking there may be a compromise of sorts? Perhaps get it done quickly and not drag it out, but get to a vindication/acquittal of President Trump instead of just dismissing it leaving nothing resolved?

I'm still not clear just where I am on this yet, but you guys are making great arguments.
