It is arguable that a number of GOP senators are publicly stating that they will not abide by their oath of office, nor the oath for the impeachment trial.

Is it indeed possible that the Chief Justice will disqualify GOP senators form the impeachment jury on the basis that their public statements imply they are falsely swearing the oath for the trial?

Has McConnell and Graham and their ilk actually disqualified themselves from the impeachment jury?

It is an interesting argument that GOP senators could be violating their oaths ahead of the swearing-in of the jury in order to be disqualified from the impeachment jury so they are not seen to be voting for impeachment.

Or, could senators who are publicly supporting Trump be able to justify flipping and their vote to impeach or a non-vote by claiming the oath made them do it.

May you live in interesting times.

Well, if your usual nonsense were true then Schiff should be censored for lying to the public for 3 years and running a sham impeachment investigation.

The sham was committed by GOP lawmakers. Donald Trump is the GOP "censor".

Three years of complaining is just embarrassing.

No one cares what Trump did, it's what some on the left did.

Pardon me Roy but the only thing worse than fatuous nonsense is long winded fatuous nonsense.

I think the Senators have heard enough from the hearings the Democrats had and know it's a farce and aren't about to go along with it. No, they won't be switching their vote, the impeachment is going down. You can't run this like a regular trial because everyone on the jury has already heard the testimony a head of time and their mind is already made up and you can't eliminate them all. That is bothering the Democrats, they want Republican support to try and make this impeachment look justified. Instead your having some Democrats quitting the Party over this impeachment. Democrats might impeach Trump, but he'll be running again in November.

You mean the exact same way the democratic congress omitted obeying their oath of office since 1/20/17, actually since 11/10/16.

Unfortunately, they could not impeach Trump before 1/20/17 and 11/10/16. If that is a failure to obey their oath, then so be it.

What is the oath of office that these senators are not abiding by? You ask lots of questions, but what is that oath of office, and how is that not being seen through? You fail to even attempt an argument in that direction.

What would be a hoot were if they issued a DETAILED listing of how many similar things Obama and all previous Dem Party presidents are now KNOWN to have done with names and dates and corporations and organizations provided as proof of a similar nature and then told the politically partisan Dem Party leadership and their ideologically allied Mainstream Media to get stuffed; and did this while going through the motions of examining the known to be bought and paid for radical leftist 'witnesses' against Trump.

The effort to impeach President Donald John Trump is already underway.

At the moment the new commander in chief was sworn in, a campaign to build public support for his impeachment went live at ImpeachDonaldTrumpNow.org, spearheaded by two liberal advocacy groups aiming to lay the groundwork for his eventual ejection from the White House.

Hmmmm, that may be exactly their intentions. They used to publicly despise Trump but fear backlash if they vote to oust him. By "inadvertantly" disqualifying themselves they reduce the number of votes needed to oust Trump and get to cry how sad they are while toasting champagne.

Nothing has been proven against Trump. Not guilty is the only logical conclusion.

Donald Trump loves the poorly educated. They are so gullible.

Rational people are beholden to Trump for curing constipation.

I would agree if moral, spiritual, intellectual, and financial national bankruptcy was a rational objective.

Weren't you one of the Lefties crying about upholding the Constitution?

"In 1936, the Senate amended these rules to include Rule XI, which allows the appointment of a small number of Senators to operate as a trial committee to gather evidence and take testimony. The Senate has used trial committees on only three occasions in the 1980s to assist with fact-finding regarding impeachment articles approved by the House against three federal district judges. Before the Senate and in federal court, all three judges challenged the legitimacy of trial committees. They argued the Senate's "power to try impeachments" imposed on the full Senate the obligation to conduct a full trial. The Senate countered that it had complete authority over how to fashion proceedings and that Senators' political accountability was the only check on this authority. Ultimately, the Supreme Court accepted the Senate's arguments in Nixon v. United States (1993) on the principal ground that the Senate's power to try impeachments included the nonreviewable final discretion to determine how to conduct its trials. The Court did not address the propriety of judicial review of the Senate's possible deviation from any explicit safeguard required by the Constitution for impeachment trials."

The Supreme Court ruled on this and you, Schumer, along with some slime bags in the media, seem to be making up your own dialogue about what should happen.

As the OP, were you enticed by the propaganda aspect of the bogus article or were you just simply caught being gullible?

When Trump is not impeached by the senate many democrats will say the chief justice should have recused himself. Then the new impeachment BS will start. And many democrats will fall by the wayside as people go to the polls. People are not a dumb as the democrats think they are.

Translation: The left hate the poorly educated and think education means intelligent. In their world, Lincoln would be poorly educated and hated. Well, democrats did eventually kill him.

This does not change that the oath that they are required to state at the beginning is required by the constitution itself. Do you honestly believe the Senate could get away with changing it?
