No, you do not. This is simply false.

If they could work in a high tech environment that pays more they wouldn't be teaching.

You're literally posting false information to shore up your imagination.

I read this thread....I must be doing it wrong. :confuse:

Never once in my life have I had a free **** benefit.

Where do I sign up to the Democrat Plantation?

Just today I went to the dentist. The gal asked "has your insurance changed", and my response was as always "I've never had insurance...I pay out of pocket".

If only I vote for the party of slavery and socialism, I could have kept that $62 in my pocket.

A master's degree is required for a teaching certificate in 36 states plus DC.

People weigh their job preferences based on a range of criteria. No single factor is an absolute.

So, there are people who simply like teaching and are thus willing to limit their career choice.

However, most people do care about compensation. When they graduate from high school, they see a lot of lot of incredibly exciting choices. And, they may not see going back to high school with only a promise of "median pay" as being the winning opportunity.

    The direction in California is,
Tent City, USA: Southern California’s homelessness crisis

I don't think I'll be taking any Californians advice on economics any time soon ;) ¯\_(º¸º)_/¯

    1. Nothing to "solve," debunked both lie narratives last week in threads I created here. Both income and wealth inequality are very healthy in an overheated innovation boom, and we are in fact in one. Innovators earning and accumulating more tells us three very important things a) public needs are being met as people stand in line to trade their money for innovations; b) the public has enough money to buy LOTS of those innovations, so they are affordable; c) innovators are rewarded with excess wealth and will continue to innovate. Or we can filter it through Paulie Walnuts government crooks and see how much innovation results from that.
    2. "Rich hoarding money" is a part of both debunked narratives, when I post how much and more importantly how WELL they give it away, LW propagandists pull a Casper. Then spout the exact same lie narrative next week or even the next day. No integrity, no consistency.

When California says "we have free ****" they really mean it. They even have tourist maps to find it.

The case denied by the SCOTUS concerning arresting people sleeping outdoors was from RED STATE IDAHO, not California.

So, your pretention that this is some sort of CA or Dem specific problem is clearly just ignorance.

Yeah well, maybe they should consider pursuing another career if they think they can make more money. Money is how we measure the worth of one's labor, and if they think they aren't being paid enough, then maybe the problem lies more in the worth of their labor.

True, but we also want education that is adequate for meeting America's needs.

Other countries are doing better at a time when a growing percent of our economy requires higher education.

We don't even have 5% of the brains, the crucial natural resource in our economic future. Wasting that resource is an assault on our own future.

You suggested there was something about CA and/or Dems.

I pointed out clear evidence to the contrary.

So fire the imbeciles and hire real teachers. Don't tell me we need better education, while also defending the status quo. The status quo is filled with a bunch of incompetents who couldn't teach their way out of a soggy paper bag.

And, I'm pointing out that it isn't specific to CA.

And, it is also not specific to Dems.

So, when looking for causes or solutions, please remember that.

    Sure.

But, hiring someone is a matter of selling them.

And, if the job description and salary aren't attractive, the prospective employee will usually go somewhere else.

I am part of the problem here. I could hire teachers for various positions in high tech - communicatig, marketing, writing, etc. It was pretty easy, as I could offer WAY better money and a great job description.

If education managers want to hire smart capable teachers, they have to compete with ME. They aren't.

I'd point out that we don't even have to fire people.

Numerous school districts have a problem hiring a full compliment of teachers.

All we really need to do is to start competing for good teachers with the kind of job description and salary offerings that the candidates we want will accept.

In the system you bring up, if the corporations aren't paying, who would be paying?
