Impeachment is impeachment and an indictment is an indictment. If you are indicted and are found not quilty the indictment goes away. The court finds you didn't do what was charged. When the House impeaches the person is forever impeached and the articles of the impeachment always remain. Clinton remains an impeached President and the articles still stand as what the House found he did. If anything the Senate is where the sentence is passed if any.

I guess you don't get the rules. In Feb. 2019, 391 million dollars was authorized and appropriated for Ukraine for lethal security use. This is back in February. Zelensky was elected in April running on an anti-corruption platform. His party won a majority in parliament on July 21st. Now all the testimony said the WH asked for a review of the aid package. Everyone said it was fine and should be sent to Ukraine ASAP. However, the president can hold the aid if he and the rest of the government believe the following: "That the aid shouldn't be given if the country is engaging in gross human rights violations, if it would give the country a big advantage over it's neighbors or being sold on the black market." That's it. None of this applied. I mean everyone who testified said Ukraine was doing everything they could to eliminate corruption. They need the aid when Russia is your neighbor. So what Trump did is wrong and illegal. He should be impeached and if some of the GOP had any brains and balls they would figure out that standing by this liar is not worth it. It isn't worth ruining your reputation or career over. People like Graham, Nunes, Jordan, Ratcliffe, Stefanik and the rest are a lost cause. How anyone can willingly support this man is beyond me. He is horrible in everything does. 3 wives, sexual predator, 4 bankruptcies, a failed university, many other failed business ventures. He is beyond repair. I can't even say what the republican party has turned into.

Only time will tell, but Pelosi is not going to push around Mitch McConnell.

So far this process has helped Trump.

Pelosi won't send the case to the senate unless they adopt her rules? The senate will laugh at the idea that a house member should dictate how the senate proceeds.

So it looks like Trump will survive impeachment. Pelosi will just sit on what she has.

 

I think Nancy is stuck, and she has to send the Articles to the Senate for a trial. She may not want to, but I think she's stuck.

Remember, Nancy is the $250 million woman, and she's got nothing to lose.

Yeah, and I'm in the "short trial" camp. I don't think this impeachment was legitimate (legal, yes, legitimate, no), and so I don't think the Senate should mess with it longer than a day.

 

No one is talking aboit the fact that the dems took the house in 2018 mainly because the Collusion Hoax was in full swing. Now that it has been proven to be a sham and Ukraine a sham too, will dems hold those seats in 2020?

 

What hoax ? After the Republican clown show in the Senate, and with more Republican seats up for re-election this time, the Democrats will make dramatic gains in the Senate this cycle.

If Biden did what he bragged about doing, that would constitute an abuse of office as the Vice President. Being a rival candidate doesn't make any abuses and law breaking by him while VP above the law. Trump asked Zelenskyy to coordinate with the US Attorney General, NOT his campaign. If he didn't do it then there may be a case for political gain. But we won't know unless the Senate investigates during Trumps trial in the Senate. Testimony from the Biden's, Chris Heinz, Devon Archer and Adam Schiff as well as depositions by Zelensky and Shokin will be key to determining whether Trump was legitimately going after corruption or seeking to damage a political rival.

When Clinton was impeached, the articles were in the Senate's hand within 5 minutes. Nancy wants to set the rules for the Senate trial, sorry dingbat that's just not going to happen.

I can see them losing 20+ seats in the House and all 6 Senates in states Trump won in 2016.

 

FYI they didn't get funds, they got military assistance, ie the US DoD did the purchasing and sent the goods to the Ukraine. It took a bill by the congress to extend the time for the DoD to spend the money by seen weeks as the delay had prevented them from spending it by the end of the fiscal year where they would have been obligated to return the money to the treasury. Ironically, had that not done that there are other laws that Trump would have broken pertaining to congressional approved aid.
