Is it really anti-Islamic? Would you watch the show? Or would you sign the petition?

    1) How the heck would we know UNTIL we watch the show?

    2) I'll give it a spin, sure. I've binge-watched most of the shows I wanted to by now anyway.

    3) I can count on one hand the number of petitions I've signed. Nah.

How long before the fatwa is issued, or is that what the petition actually is?

Maybe they can just firebomb their offices like the Christians are doing to the movie they don't like...

Sounds like a GREAT Show to me.

    I will be watching.

If people want to leave Netflix, I couldn't care less.

    It looks like Must-See TV.

Sounds like a bunch of mock outrage by a bunch of people who don't understand the meaning of "Artistic License"

It seems that the only people who would be ticked off would be Net and yahoo and his band of land thieves.

(In complete non-snark mode) You sure about that? Based on what you've said about your Dearborn ladies, and your admiration of Illhan Omar, a show in which the petition accuses the show of being, and I quote, "evil and anti-Islamic propaganda," doesn't quite seem like your cup of tea.

I'll watch it since I already finished binge-watching the latest half-season of Flash and the Arrowverse along with the last season of Stranger Things, and this seems like a change of pace. Still couldn't get past the first few episodes of Gotham.

Doesn't Susan Rice of 'let's blame it on an anti Islamic video" fame work for Netflix?

When you quoted me, you only used a SNIPPET.

You left out THIS Critical Statement (from my post):

Sounds like a bunch of mock outrage by a bunch of people who don't understand the meaning of "Artistic License"

    ^I stand by that opinion.

(Oh, the dangers of selective quoting). Carry on. :salute:

Nothing about the firebombers religion mentioned in the article. Instead, it says

"The man claims to speak for a group he calls the Command of Popular National Insurgence and says it is part of Brazil’s “integralist” movement, which was inspired by Italian fascism during the 1930s.

He describes Porta dos Fundos, which has posted satires and parodies on its YouTube channel for years, as a group of Marxist militants."

On what are you basing that this was a Christian attack? Because it looks like fascists vs communists to me...

I'll quote another part of the article then: "The main character’s name translates as ‘Anti-Christ or ‘false Messiah’ in Arabic making it easy for viewers in the Arab-speaking world to decipher the final outcome. "

There's artistic license, but that seems a bit out there. It almost seems as if the show is trying to bait the audience.

*shrugs* I'm watching it anyway. Just seems that if a collection of Muslims - and odds are the people signing the petition are - are getting offended by it, it still doesn't seem like it would be your cup of tea.

Now, I don't know, nor do you, and nor do THEY - if it is in fact offensive to Islam. I would genuinely be surprised if it was; I doubt Netflix is brave enough to do something like that as they don't wanna get Charlie Hebdo'd. But I also said there's no real way to know until it's on.

This reminds me of the late 80's where fanboys were getting absolutely hysterical - I'm not even kidding - over Michael Keaton being cast as Batman thinking "Beetlejuice" couldn't pull off the part, and they were dead wrong. Kinda the same thing.

Yes, it just happened to occur immediately after those groups — and many others — protested the studio’s new film portraying Jesus as a homosexual.
    Definitely unrelated

The show sounds like how the Jews did it. March into Canaan, and massacre everybody alive because their God supports genocide. And I add to that,... their God massacred innocent Egyptian babies in order to get going to Canaan. That's the God them folks pray too and what they believe in. The sole reason why they claim Israel today. Should we supersized about the violence of today?

You mean the Egyptians who killed All of the Hebrew babies? The Egyptians who enslaved the people who made them rich?

No sympathy for innocent Egyptian first born males here.

On the other hand who are you to talk back to God?

When the anti christ comes he will have nearly universal appeal. Islam, hindu, atheists, you name it. They will all love him and persecute everyone who questions him.

I remember that, HUGE news worldwide, people couldn't stop talking about it, and the death, so many deaths!

oops, ok no deaths, I was wrong there, but the flames, the flames!

oops, ok, not much as far as flames, I was wrong there, one guy put it out with a fire extinguisher.

FWIW, I was looking forward to watching First Temptation, it looks like it could be funny.

Those crazy Christians, I think its time we stomp them before they really get out of hand.

Well, except the Christians didn't have anything to do with it, so why even mention Christians unless you're a leftie propaganda parrot....?

    Otherwise, funny post :p

lol, sarcasm was running deep in my post.

I do think that the poster I was responding to must have been steered by Rachel Maddow or someone just as nutty as a desperate deflection.

But that's quite typical as i'm sure you're aware.

My apologies. I have that poster on ignore, so that part of your post was lost on me. As for it being "quite typical as i'm sure you're aware", you're right, I'm quite aware. Which is why I have that poster, and others like him, on ignore in the first place.
