Reuters is reporting that the US has informed Iraq that it will be pulling out. •••••••••••••••••• https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...-will-withdraw-from-iraq-letter-idUSKBN1Z520A BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The United States-led military coalition against Islamic State said on Monday that it was pulling out of Iraq and would be repositioning forces over the next few days and weeks, a letter seen by Reuters showed. “Sir, in deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister, CJTF-OIR will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement,” read a letter from United States Marine Corps Brigadier General William H. Seely III, the commanding general of Task Force Iraq. The authenticity of the letter, which was addressed to the Iraqi defense ministry’s Combined Joint Operations Baghdad, was confirmed to Reuters independently by an Iraqi military source. “We respect your sovereign decision to order our departure,” it said. •••••••••••••••• Now we have to see how this shapes up. I don't have a lot of confidence. Seems more like stalling for time until 'events' make it a moot point.
They appear to be moving towards Iran and the border. Neocons wet dreams are coming true, death to everyone and praise Jesus. At some point, I am glad Trump is such a disaster. He is doing what right wing radio has advised for decades. Now we get to see if they were right or just a bunch of high school dropouts foaming at the mouth and making millions off rubes.
Well, this didn't take long to be walked back. ▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪▪ ‘No decision to leave Iraq’? Pentagon chief Esper contradicts subordinates on withdrawal plans 6 Jan, 2020 21:16 Follow RT on The US has no plans to pull out of Iraq, Defense Secretary Mark Esper told reporters after a letter to the government in Baghdad informing them of redeployment plans was published online. "There's been no decision to leave Iraq. Period,” Esper told reporters at the Pentagon on Monday, in what appears to have been an off-camera briefing.
Once we get into another nation we never go home. No matter if that nation wants us out. We dont respect the wishes of those nations Not different than Hitler and his Nazis on this particular issue. We sure dont respect sovereignty. Or many other principles of liberal democracy.
No way the Americans will leave, unless the body bags roll in - and Iran knows it. What Iran and Iraq should do, or try to do is lock them in. Make it too dangerous for them to leave their enclave and too dangerous for American jets to land. Of course I don't know what I'm talking about and if it's even possible. But it sounds good in theory.
We left Mexico. We left France. We left Vietnam. We left the Balkans. In fact we left most of them. So never is just hyperbole. Stop comparing the U.S. to Nazi Germany. It is offensive.
Don't worry, Washington can always find another non-existent WMD, a new phoney plot to invade the U.S., one more concocted collusion perpetrated by the Russians, or a lethal enemy of the state such as Greta Thunberg. So rest assured knowing that your increasing tax dollars will always be pipelined to the American war industry.
"Left"? LOL! Make no mistake, you got your butts kicked and thrown out of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Cuba, Somalia, Lebanon, Iran, and many more. "Left" is wishful thinking and a real spin on historical events.
You don't think that was a deliberate leak that was following the orders of the chain of command which was following the orders of the State Department?
As soon as Iraq demands that the US must leave, than it simply must leave. It's that, or the Americans are fair game to be shot on sight in Iraq as a hostile invading force of which the Iraqi's have the full right to defend themselves from it.
