Lots of folks have covered that pretty well already now, but yes, you've got the right idea. Welcome to the party!

We expect better, more adult, and rational behavior from an adult.

Look at the poster I'm responding to. He sees the shooting as a "moral lesson" for the kids but sees none that should be learned by the shooter. His words. I've said repeatedly they shouldn't have been throwing snowballs. That part has been covered. Now there's that much more serious crime to think about.

We expect better behavior from adults, and what he did was far, far more stupid regardless of the ages in question.

Literally no one has excused the kids throwing snowballs.

They never would have printed the story if it had been a black car.

OK. Let's blame objects for human actions. Let's blame the car for antagonizing the snowball throwers.

Crazy country full of crazy people where it is harder to get mental healthcare than firearms.
    What could possibly go wrong?

When someone claims that the shooting is a "moral lesson" for the kids but that there is no moral lesson for the shooter, I don't know how anyone can interpret that as anything other than an excuse. As I've already pointed out, we have someone on the thread doing just that. Wyrd seems to think the same.

But if we both agree that both actions were wrong, great! Now, were they equally wrong or was one a more serious crime than the other?

Long, long ago, on a hill overlooking a highway, we were lobbing snowballs at passing cars. The only one I hit was the windshield of a state trooper's car. I didn't think he saw us because he slowed down just a little, then sped off. A few minutes later, I heard someone running up behind me and just when I turned to see who it was, I got tackled and had my face rubbed in the snow. It turns out the trooper had taken a road that came up behind us and he snuck up on me. He never said a word, but the guys I was with got a pretty good laugh. Lesson learned the cold way.

We don’t need concealed guns because this is what happens

What difference would it make if the driver shot at them or stopped the car and punched them in the face to death?

Your issue is the gun, which is ridiculous. Your issue ought to be with the idiot that harmed them.

I simply can't comprehend the stupidity of the anti-gun crowd. Like... not at all.

The obvious solution here is to background check and register all snowballs.

    Oh lawdy.

It would be a lot harder to get out of the car and chase the kids down. Especially both of them. It would also be a lot harder to get away with it in that instance, because chances are it would have gotten attention of others in the area pretty quickly and that would have been that.

Then there's the fact that even a moron like this person would be less likely to attempt that than to pull out a gun and take shots, because of the risk and because of the added effort involved.

THEN there is the fact that people such as this hot-headed fool lacking any sense for how firearms should be used should not reasonably have access to firearms, especially not as some kind of right that can't be denied until after he or she sufficiently abuses it. This is the basic problem of gun freedumb today. Too many morons and sick mofos have easy access to firearms, and this is the result.

Ok... he could have just turned his car and ran them over and took off.

Look. Blaming the gun is a ridiculous argument that lacks any amount of logic.
