Don lit a fire, threw gasoline on it, and now would like some credit for not burning down the whole neighborhood. He pulled the US out of the JCPOA agreed to by Iran, China, Russia, Great Britain, France, and the US. An agreement that, while in effect, did not lead to rocket attacks on US personnel, did not lead to Iran disrupting shipping in the Straight of Hormuz, did not lead to Shia militias (Iran's proxies) attacking us in Iraq, and did not lead to protests outside our Iraqi embassy. An agreement that was working to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon and was designed to keep working for a very long time.
"According to the comprehensive agreement, for at least 15 years, Iran will only enrich uranium up to 3.67 percent (uranium enriched at 20% or lower is considered low enriched uranium (LEU); uranium enriched above 90% is weapons grade.)

This does not, however, mean that on day one of year 16, Iran will have enough weapons-grade uranium to build a bomb. Yes, after 15 years Iran could begin enriching uranium beyond 3.67 percent. But without this deal, Iran could head for a bomb tomorrow.

Some aspects of the agreement will last 25 years, including the monitoring of Iran’s uranium mines and supply chain. Other aspects, such as the implementation of robust IAEA safeguards and access to investigate suspicious sites for illicit nuclear activity, are permanent. Regardless of what specific restrictions are lifted, Iran is still prohibited from pursuing nuclear weapons. Any activity that is clearly not intended for “peaceful use” (i.e. highly enriching uranium) will raise red flags and trigger a response from the international community."

The Idiot-in-Chief began yesterday's speech by reiterating the same policy every prez before him has adhered to, that Iran would be prevented from getting a nuclear weapon. He went on to call on the JCPOA's signatories to agree to a new JCPOA, which wouldn't be necessary if he hadn't withdrawn from the first one.

"This process, as you might guess, was very, very slow. By the time Obama’s second term in office began, the tribunal still had not come to a ruling on the issue of the $400 million. Sometime afterward, the Associated Press’s Matt Lee and Bradley Klapper report, the US government apparently concluded that it was going to lose the case — and lose big: Iran was seeking $10 billion in today’s dollars.

"US officials had expected a ruling on the Iranian claim from the tribunal any time, and feared a ruling that would have made the interest payments much higher," Lee and Klapper write.

So the Obama administration decided to settle out of court, opening up negotiations with Iran on the terms of the settlement. It did this at the same time it was negotiating the nuclear deal and the return of four US citizens who had been detained by Iran more recently."

So......Don has unified Iran against us when there were massive protests against the Iranian regime prior to Soleimani's assassination. He has unified the Shia militia against us in Iraq. He has greatly aided Iran's efforts to diminish our influence in Iraq and the ME generally. He has caused renewed calls for our troops to be expelled from Iraq, one of Iran's primary goals. He has strengthened ISIS by causing a suspension of coalition efforts to fight it. He has once again isolated the US by withdrawing from the JCPOA. He has put the lives of US citizens and military personnel in the ME at greater risk.

For icing on the cake, the pathetic briefing given to Congress failed to make a convincing case there really was an "imminent threat" allowing President Bonespurs to authorize Soleimani's killing without notifying Congress. Repub senator Mike Lee found the briefing so inept and so condescending (Congress was told not to debate the matter of limiting Don's power to decide how to act towards Iran effectively trying to stifle any dissent) he is going to support putting restrictions on Generalissimo Trump.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss the factual points brought up in the OP. Oh......wait..........that's not what you want to do. What you want is to be snarky................then retreat to your hidey-hole.

I doubt you'd actually want to discuss the facts. The characterization of the facts that you've already made is embarrassing enough for you, don't you think? Perhaps you're really just looking for that out that now allows you to, as you suggested, "retreat to your hidden-hole"...

LOL! That lousy Iran agreement guaranteed Iran would get nukes. It wasn't a good deal it was just trying to win over the insane Iranian government with appeasement.

No, I don't think my characterization of the facts is embarrassing or in error. Feel free to make your case.

In general, when you throw in "bonespur" or "Big fatDon", I quit reading. That is for children, not grownups.

Obviously. Obama was/is hated mostly for not being a White conservative. Trump is hated for being a bumbling idiot who lies constantly.

There is no rational case to be made Lee. Iran has been provoking the US and our allies for years. We have tolerated their actions by ignoring them or sending them cash. The kept pushing Trumps buttons in an attempt to see how far they could go and they got a well measured response. You would have comp[lained at whatever the outcome so......
Pretty much everyone with the exception of the Trump haters understands Trump really does not want to enter a war with anyone. He handled the Iranian attack on contractors and our embassy in Bagdad perfectly. He sent the message and I think it was received for now. Will Iran continue to prod, yep. Will Trump continue with well measured responses? Yep.
Case closed. Sorry for your tragic landslide election loss in 2016 but prepare yourself for another as Trump is poised.

It also amazes me the people in the USA who now stick up for Iran after Trump killed their terrorist general. Their hatred for Trump has no bounds.

Who is sticking up for Iran? You are conflating criticism of this admin's incompetence and idiocy with disloyalty to the country. Bush tried the same thing. It's un-American.

On Capitol Hill Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a floor speech that some Democrats “rushed to downplay Soleimani’s evil while presenting our own president as the villain.”

Of course he said that: He's another crooked Republican trying to hang on to power at any cost to the American people.

SO many words, so little substance, and a mishmash of topics amounting to "ORANGEMANONIRANBAD" that doesn't lead to any point or meaningful discussion.

But no discussion is intended, just a placard to wave and deflect from the reality that the Trump ME policy, especially of late, seems to be working out better for the U.S. than Obama ME policy did. If that turns out to be the case, this is devastating for Democrats in the campaign year. Some of the better (better merely meaning remotely accurate) anti Trump arguments of the 2016 Campaign hinged on Trump's inexperience in bureaucracy, defense and especially statecraft. Being able to turn that minus into a plus in the upcoming campaign is something voters will notice.

Economy + Immigration/U.S. citizens first + fear of Democrat social program cost was going to make a very effective campaign appeal for Trump. If +winning foreign policy could be added to the chain? Better start stuffing ballots in car trunks, 10-15 million should do the trick.

It is a given that whatever ME policy or its opposite is likely to have some unforeseen negative effects on the U.S. position in the future. That applies to all Administrations and is a function of a volatile region at a certain point in time. Reasonable people understand this, reasonable voters acknowledge it. Voters will allow the POTUS some latitude in the ME, for Trump the same as they did Obama, regardless of what the lie media claims or twists.

Lies about "Trump's Lies" are a lake in which the actual Trump Lies are some endangered species of minnow.

As far as Paul and Lee being annoyed, OK. And? Remember that despite their many flaws, the Republicans are not near the hivemind the Democrats are, and that is also being made crystal clear to voters, more so by the hour.

I think that you may eventually be quoted in dictionaries, included in the definitions/examples of slander.

Regardless of the volume of trash thrown at the president- he continues to stay on track, continues to accomplish- and is doing better than ever as his experience builds. The fact that the daily load of manure thrown at him by the left has no effect at all really pisses his critics off- and he simply doesn't care about that, because of course that is their problem, like a black cloud inside their minds that rains on their parade everyday. It's actually amusing to see the whining, finger-pointing, total denial of poor conduct, of bias, and general self-degradation that is being demonstrated everyday, even by some members of congress.

I can't say Trump is laughing as them as hard as the rest of us, but he's certainly aware that every such act by those on the left puts more votes in his pocket and insures his next term. Nobody with a good compass wants to see people that short on character and self-control get power, which means that Trump will be the choice of necessity even for those who hate him.

I think if there was a talking fly on the wall as you cast your ballot next time, he would tell us you were one of them.
