Oh .. you were talking about money? I thought you were talking about fame .. of which she had very little.

Oh, I see. You think that she married for fame and not for love.
Is this based on anything other than Meghan Derangement Syndrome?

Eh abdication makes more sense than wanting to keep the fancy titles without doing the drudge work that goes with them.

I guess it is their decision.... whether or not it makes sense to you.

But, if they are reading this forum, now they will have your opinion

I think she's almost certainly very attracted to the spotlight (see 'acting career' for evidence). And she's almost certainly dysfunctional (see 'acting career' for evidence .. also, dysfunctional family background), and likes money. If that isn't a recipe for a bad marriage, I don't know what is.

Yeah... go somewhere "very remote and disappear", with tons upon tons of continued, generous income from the British people by sucking up the 'goodie' because of being "Duchess of Sussex, Countess of Dumbarton and Baroness Kilkeel"....

Face it... the British have been in unending decline ever since they threw away an entire EMPIRE and major world-standing by hemorrhaging away the best parts of themselves during World War II. Now they're just a big mixing-bowl of various chunks of crap imported from all over the Third World.

Now, if they're lucky, after their "Brexit" at least they'll be able to keep everybody else from stealing all the damned fish out of their waters -- maybe.... :lonely:

    Rule Britannia! :roflol:

I suspect that if they were serious about entering 'private life', that's exactly what they'd do. IOW, move to some quiet corner of a country not interested in British royalty. There are plenty of options, none of which appear to have been taken.

Actually, I'm not sure it is their decision. If I wanted to keep my title from work, but retire from the actual work itself, my employer might have some small say in that.

    MDS it is then.
Is it her skin colour, sex or political beliefs that you hate so much about her?

More importantly, do YOU think her skin colour matters so much that you need to mention it?

A fine chopper pilot with vast experience, war hardened, I think he is more than an asset.

Quite a nasty comment, maybe based on racist reasons.

I'm finding a lot of posts here rather disheartening. Harry fell in love with Meghan regardless of her color, background and status as a celeb. Love isnt a matter of choosing such qualities from the outset and discarding those "not worthy". Yes, the royals would be a bunch of people that would be difficult to break through with acceptance. So I read between the lines with current developments and see that Harry and Meghan have jointly come to a point whereby they are tired of the struggle that institution places upon them. It isnt rocket science.

Their answer is to leave that institution but to abdicate is too far to the left, that would see a severing of Harry and his family and do untold damage to the Royal institution. For those that think he is having it both ways I dont believe that is his intention, it isnt a selfish decision, rather a totally different lifestyle but to preserve the royals as well. After all the Royal family has plenty of back up with Charles, William and upcoming children, Harry, like Andrew and Margaret are the workers on the side that are somewhat less important.

I think Harry is making a fine decision and his beautiful wife....will not worry anymore about fitting her rounded ways into a square mentality.

I couldn't care less but it is one of the things that bothers other people. I was just wondering if you were one of those people.

Yeah.....about that. It's kinda weird I know, but sometimes in this strange world of internet discussions and debate I am perversely compelled to express my opinion....call it a quirk or fault I suppose.

    from one article I read.
    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/01/the_british_royal_farce.html

But, at the rate they can spend it, I'm sure they can blow through that in no time if they don't receive any benefits from the royal treasury.

Their finances are kept pretty much private but it is known that Diana's estate was worth 30 million and went mostly to her two sons. William would not have received less of a share than his brother but might possibly have received more as the eldest and direct heir to the throne.
We are quibbling over a few million though and it's not likely that Harry will be running out of cash any time soon.
