The purpose of this thread is to address three of the common "myths" about women that those opposed to their right to an abortion use as bogus arguments.

    1. Women regret having abortion and feel negative emotions for the rest of their lives.
    2. Women don't take the time to consider the ramifications involved in having an abortion.
    3. Community pressure against abortion will prevail in order to end abortions.

Below are the results of a significant LONG TERM scientific study into the emotional effects of having an abortion.

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0277953619306999?via=ihub

So now we have scientific data from the the women who have had abortions that they experienced no long term negative emotional impact afterwards.

But let's dig a little deeper because there is some other interesting information to be gleaned.

Having an abortion was a DIFFICULT decision for a MAJORITY of women.

Community stigma against having an abortion correlated with long lasting anger at being stigmatized for having an abortion.

    In Summation;

    1. There are no long term negative emotional impacts for women because they had an abortion.

    2. A majority of women found that the decision to have an abortion was a difficult one.

    3. Community stigmatization of women having abortions results in anger at being stigmatized by those opposed to abortions.

These finding utterly refute the anti-abortion "mythology" that women "regret having abortions", women take "having an abortion lightly without considering the ramifications" and that "community pressure against abortion" will prevail in order to end abortions.

Please feel free to provide your own thoughts and opinions on these findings.

Anti-choice people will simply cry “Fake News” and will continue to spout the same bs they have in the past. Different day, same story.

Probably, but with this thread and link it will be possible to use scientific facts to debunk their bs now.

I would think trying to find scientific facts based solely on emotions would be impossible. I think it would totally depend on the individual.

The problem is that the Anti-Choicers don't believe in science.(nor facts ;) )

That statement calls for the operation of the mind and is false. You are not qualified to speak for them or what they believe. Even if women experienced regret, or negative feelings, its their life and none of the governments business.
