She's an intelligent strong willed 12 year old. She's usually preaching about equality, fairness, she's pretty woke.

Anyways she came home from school banging on about world 3 three after seeing some memes online.

So I jokingly mentioned in a few years if world war 3 was still happening, it looks like she would be drafted and fighting in it. And rightly so as women are just as capable as men at all things.

Her response was so funny. She instantly became the biggest anti feminist I've ever seen. She was undermining women arguing women are not as capable as men, undoing decades of equal rights and equality. She mentioned she would fight for women's rights to be set back to what they were hundreds of years ago. Just so she wouldn't be drafted into a man in this imaginary war.

Although this thread has no real point to it and the whole conversation was very light hearted and very jokenly. I just found the whole bizarre conversation quite funny and I couldn't help but share.

But in all seriousness do you think women should actually be treated as equals and hold the same responsibilities as men? For example the draft. Would women accept it??

Yes. Jobs and positions and responsibilities should not be based upon gender/sex but ability. Will this leave certain things dominated by one or the other? Sure. But the women who can and want to, will get to do it, and men who can't, won't.

Women should stop bellyaching and achieve something instead, if they want respect. When is a woman going to give the world an invention like airplanes, electricity, computers, etc....like MEN did? When are women going to go to Mars like MEN went to the moon?

Enough with the pretense of "moral superiority" let's see some ACTION!

Its so obvious. Of course women should be subject to the draft if men are. What you do with them after they are conscripted, may be a question for discussion, but the notion that one gender is exempt from putting their lives on hold, while the other is not exempt, is ludicrous.

Some women would, some women wouldn't. It's almost as if they're separate individuals and not all the same. I doubt your step-daughter was really reacting to the idea of women being drafted, she was reacting to the idea of her being drafted because ultimately, male or female, human beings are self-centred animals.

I suspect that there would be as many men objecting to women being drafted as there would women and just as many of both objecting to a draft in general, for men or women. Opinions on the question of women in the military in general aren't going to be split on gender lines.

It was not the fact she didn't want to be drafted shocked me (I think most people would like to avoid it). I just found it funny how fast she turned on the idea of feminism and argued with me how women are NOT equal to men. She is normally pretty "woke" and big on equality.

It was a light hearted joking conversation with a 12 year old. So I wouldn't look too deep into it. I just found it interesting how fast she abandoned women's rights and equality and made it the enemy.

we do not know women played no role in those inventions, men took the credit sure, but different times, no idea what ideas they got from their wives or girlfriends

in fact rich men often take credit for the working classes ideas

How many years have men been able to do things as you listed above, and for how many years have women been able to do anything even similar? By shear force alone, men made sure women couldn't challenge them, denying them education, freedom of movement, and appropriate intellectual pursuits.

I'll take the rare chance and even say you were probably birthed by a woman. If you care to shoot a 9 pound ham out your willy, you might be in competition. ;)

You should have posted it in "Humour and Satire" then. You clearly wanted to use the story to make a backhanded comment about women's rights, you just don't want the effort of actually backing it up.

What you describe wouldn't be abandoning anything, just flawed human rationalisation in an (psychologically) extreme situation. I very much doubt her longer term considered opinion will be any different afterwards, she'll just internally rationalise the inconsistency, just like the rest of us do.

a man thinks he beat his 12 year old step daughter in this debate.... bet this is not the end of it

she will talk to her friends and beat this silly argument easily in the future

if nothing more, by pointing to how Trump avoided enlisting and asking her step dad if he thinks Trump is a man and if women can do the same

Feminism is (should be) about equality not special treatment. So what is there to beat?

Are you routing for the women who want to fight for women not to be considered a man's equal and for women to not have same responsibilities as men?

men often took credit for their wives work and ideas in the past, the rich men often took credit for their workers ideas, that happens even today

now when it comes to blame, the rich often blame that on others

Oh so it comes down to credit.and blame? Kinda like how men are blamed for the oppression of women yet get little.to no credit for modern society?

You cannot have it both ways.

If men and women are responsible for the positive things then men and women are also responsible for the negatives. If women have been so oppressed, lolz, then men and women are responsible.

    Why not draft women?

Im against the draft, but if we're gonna do it, we shouldn't be discriminating based on gender. Women can squeeze triggers too.

you can try to deny rich men took credit for others work all you want, but we all know that is not true - do you also think if a black slave came up with a idea his master would not steal the idea and claim it as his own - this happened a lot in the old days - still to a lesser degree now, though work for hire laws do allow corps to do this - a bill gates would never again be able to take his development work from a corp and start his own business like he did to IBM

same thing, you try to stay on topic, I am on topic, same thing happened to those groups as women, thus all groups effected by this, thus the comparison is valid, you are free to disagree, but you won't silence me
