The legal violation, according to the GAO, is because Trump failed to provide or to notify Congress about any policy justification for the delay.

    Read the report yourself.

That episode was obviously before my time, but it seems that the Pentagon broke the law there, not Obama personally (from my 10 minutes of research).

Is he ultimately responsible?? Probably... but that's certainly not comparable to what the GAO announced today...

You guys wanted Trump's impeachment to include an actual violation of a federal statute. The GAO just delivered.

    Enjoy.

As has been pointed out by numerous other trump defenders, Obama definitely was dinged by the GAO for violating this law as well.

Trump can't even be arrested for shooting someone on 5th avenue.

And you didn't have republicans jumping up and down trying to impeach. Nobody gives a crap about the GAO opinions on either side concerning "breaking the law".

You explicitly provided proof that Obama was held to the same standard and declared to have violated this law as well (of course you also accused him of violating the law again for a reason that was not true, but at least you got the Bergdahl allegation correct).

True the joke is watching you parrot it as a serious statement pertaining to Trump thinking he could never be prosecuted. It's pretty sad that a person that calls himself a lawyer doesn't understand that a President can't be charged while in office but can the day he leaves office for crimes committed during his term. Heck your own Dem president gave you a constitution lesson that went over your head obviously. Clinton plead his felonies, that he was impeached on, down to misdemeanors right before he left office to end his case. I guess law schools have really gone down on teaching basic law based on your writings on the subject.

Uh the Republicans had the house if they wanted to impeach they would have, what they understood is impeachment isn't about removing someone the disagreed with just because.

The Senate decides his guilt or innocence. In two weeks this will be over, with him being acquitted, forever, as Nancy would say.

Which is exactly what Alexander Hamilton was concerned about.

I hope one of the best things to come out of this shitshow will be a full re-evaluation of that opinion...

I did not mean to imply that Trump was arguing he could never be prosecuted for the crime of murder, but I suppose I should have been more clear and said, "Trump can't even be arrested while he's the President for shooting someone on 5th avenue."

The reason they did not impeach is because public support for impeaching Obama did not exist.
