like bacteria in a petri dish, the human race may over-populate until they have used up or destroyed the usable resources

As long as the rich, powerful and affluent can complete those Mars colonies in time ...... the rest of us can choke.

You mean like our parents who were worried about the new mode of progress called "automation"? Let's see now ... what is the unemployment and destitution rate these days?

    Really?

"Since the beginning of the industrial age, about 20% of reefs have disappeared forever. And the phenomenon doesn’t seem to be slowing down: 25% are in danger in the short term, and an additional 25% may be threatened by 2050 — a massacre that can be attributed to mankind. Coral located near the coast in proximity with human activities suffers dramatically from population growth and ensuing adverse consequences: pollution, destructive fishing practices, destruction due to mass tourism, dumping of sediment, etc"

Let's see, give up air travel for horse travel, give up air conditioning for wide fern leaves, give up cruising for canoeing to get to a trading center, give up steaks for carboard vegan fake burger, give up heat for buffalo robes, give up driving for kneeling before and asking permission of a government bureaucrat to travel, give up, give up, give up, give up, give up? Nah. Not me. I'm eating my steak, sipping my Coke through a straw, while heating my house to a toasty 83 degrees, all while planning a commercial jet ride to Ft. Lauderdale on Valentine's Day, 2021, to board a cruise to the Caribbean where I'll eat more steak while sipping tropical drinks through a straw, enjoying the radiating beauty of some the most beautiful women on the planet, and pleased as punch with how wonderful the profit-seekers have made my life.

Hell no, I ain't giving up, I'm an idealist, not a fear-mongering Progressive collectivist. Hell, I'm waiting for the trips to Mars, and honeymoons on the moon, a life expectancy of 10000 years, and a take over of the whole universe by the amazing creativity of the human mind, all thanks to the blessings of capitalism, the prime reason that human life is so joyously successful and wonderfully prosperous.

They are already built part of it.

And it will only get better:

Apocalyptic Climatologist Doomsayers--Shadow ghosts of Yesterday's faded nightmares. The capitalists: The builders of tomorrow's future--Come and honeymoon on the moon.

If you can't win it in the marketplace, if your idea requires the government's gun, you're going need more ANTIFA goons, more barbed wired, more gulags, more grave diggers, and more cemeteries. Sorry, just anin't going to happen--the human mind is too moral to surrender its existence to the unreal.

In a capitalist world of individual rights, individual dreams, individual effort, individual success, and romantic love...the future belongs to the free.

And I'm just a lowly rideshare driver, and still living the dream of a rich capitalist. Give that up? Not on your life, and I mean it.

How does one face the day believing one is a bacteria living in a petri dish. Depressed, I bet. (BTWL Real scientists don't use "maybe's", they use "is".

until we have a second earth, the earth is our petri dish

some may think a God is gonna step in and clean up our mess before it's too late, bacteria may think the same, who knows

real humans understand that we have an impact on our resources and environment via the choices we make as a whole, bacteria prob do not give it much thought

Very little of the GBR is actually surveyed and some areas they have claimed that are gone forever are actually doing just fine.

Now you are getting as bad as Warren. Destroy the economy? Really? Is there even evidence that green energy measures would be a net economic loss?

Ewww. "Thinking" bacteria. Earth is a "petri-dish". Damn. It's hard being you. Take a shot of Jack and relax. (If I thought like you, I'd be a frigging heroin addict. Ugly)

And real humans, those that think for themselves, spend all of their creative energy building a better life for themselves, not worrying about if their neighbor is using too much water, sipping too much pop, using too much heat, and driving a gas-guzzling SUV to buy McDonald's for the family.

Little minds have little lives that need puffing up by interfering with others' lives. Put down the government's gun and take the one who makes your heart beat faster to the movies, share some straw-sipping pop, share some butter-icious popcorn, and exchange some romantic kisses. You'll feel better. (Maybe a steak and champagne dinner afterward would be wonderful. Live a little, you'll like it. And quit worrying about the planet, it will be here long after your existence fades, and human life will flourish beyond all of your expectations--and that's all that matters, not the damn wailing whales, pudgy polar bears, and malaria-ridden mosquitoes.)

i dunno tell me what "green measures" you have in mind, exactly what they WILL accomplish and how you intend to pay for them.

More renewable energy. I have no evidence or reason to believe that this would be a net cost, hence no impetus to come up with a payment.

If the choice is between filet mignon (capitalism) and vegan burger (Environmentalism), I'm choosing the Filet Mignon.

Heaven (Capitalism--Oh, my dog will love it)

Hell on Earth (Environmentalism--Not sure my dog would eat it.)

What's next after vegan burgers? Soylent Green?

Ah, it's not an insult, it's just the truth--those with little or no lives interfere with others living theirs. Hell, every rational mind knows that--it's where the retort, "Get a life" originates from. Perhaps if you feel slighted, you may need to do a rethink on your life. Up to you. Best of luck.

Hell, I like processed food and probably will outlive Tony Horton, though he would laugh at that. Did you know that most people who smoke don't die of lung cancer? Go figure.

And hell yeah, ribeyes are great--I like them grilled on a toasted garlic bun--lotza of fried onions. Sell it, baby, I'm buying it.

yep, the longest person to have lived was a smoker

now excessive smoking can kill you, same with excessive carbs

the seed oils\carbs in processed food is really bad for you in excess

the body and lungs can deal with much in moderation

occasional carbs and even smoking can actually make your body stronger, just so many go to excess
