I am still amazed how many have been triggered by a Swedish teenager. Climate change isn't a political issue, but its been made into a political issue. Anyone who has witnessed heat records be beat over the past three years, along with the rate of glaciers melting (thus creating a rise in sea levels, which spells bad news for coastal areas) knows climate change isn't even close to being a hoax. It's happening as we speak.

Whether its extremely cold or extremely hot out, its still climate change. When the weather radically changes, and causes more tornadoes and hurricanes than usual, its still climate change. Climate change isn't a political issue, its a common sense issue. India and China, the latter being one of the biggest polluters in the world, have both committed to combatting climate change. Australia's devastating wildfire is a reminder that climate change exists. It's extremely unlikely that an arsonist could cause such carnage. The evidence grows in the favor of the climate alarmists all the time, but I'm not surprised.

It's seems a little screwed up when the US is more concerned about sending more people overseas than preserving the planet for future generations.

OP-climate changes all the time. Nonstop! I don't deny it! What I deny is that because I drive an SUV, Australia burns.

Merely driving a Ford Expedition won't cause Australia to burn in itself, but the smog it causes contributes to a warming planet will cause events like Australia's wildfires to happen. It's a chain reaction.

Laughable, at best, this is called fire season in Australia for a reason. Further, the fires are being aided and abetted insane damn arsonists.

In short climate change has nothing to do with it.

Oh and for what it is worth we are about, according to astronomers, we are about to enter a solar minimum period, you may well be damn glad, to have some warming over the next couple of hundred years.

I think it's a lost cause to try to explain something as complicated as Global Warming to people who either refuse to understand it, or simply can't (makes no difference which one it is).

I have tried for 25 years to explain the Science. It think it's enough. Now what we need them to do is just get out of the way and let grown ups handle the problem. And I mean grown-ups like 16 year-old Greta Thunberg who has shown that you don't need to be alive for too many years to be educated. The newer generations understand the issues better than many in the older generations do. And they resent that. So they drive an SUV as a form of protest.

I say let them. They're not going to willingly contribute to solving the problem anyway. So I don't see the purpose in trying to explain scientific fact to them. Just get them to stay out of the way while we see how we can handle this mess we all made.

Greta has been coached to say what she says. Coached=indoctrinated. And damn how dare I mock a disabled teen! She is being used by the likes of you. Shame on you! As she would say.

One of my favorite ideas is that scientists fail to understand politics. Sure, climate change is real and it's happening, but they fail to understand the political process and get frustrated when it doesn't go their way. It's a shame really, how can science cross this divide when the divide has always been a political one? It doesn't matter that we know climate change is happening, so much as we need to understand the processes behind political decision making.

It doesn't help that most of the "science" is funded by government grants with strings attached.

Oh no! Like duct tape! Who knew the US military needed a cheap, easy to use adhesive in the middle of WW2?

Science is funded by lots of different institutions across the globe and have all sorts of accountability ranging from review boards to the press. What you're saying is nothing new, nor any reason for fear.

If you don't think the "science " of climate change is an agenda item of the left then there is nothing left to talk about.

2018 set a new record for tornadoes. It was the lowest number of tornadoes since 1950. Records are set all the time and have been set since weather records started being kept. There was a spike in 2011. The geography of the US makes us almost universally more likely to get tornadoes.
Glaciers melting is not surprising. Glaciers melt at ever increasing rates because of albedo. As melting takes place, more dark surfaces are exposed and they melt even faster.. The temperatures do not have to increase to cause this. It will take massive cold period of years in length to reverse this process.

Don't worry about we are about to enter a solar minimum, in the next 200 cooling will be a much greater concern than warming.
Climate is constantly changing sometimes to good sometimes to our detriment, we do not and cannot control it. Per haps the reason you cannot explain the science is because you really do not understand it. But this shouldn't alarm as no one else really does either.

Did "climate change" force people to set fields of dry brush ablaze?

I think most accept that climate change is real. The problem your side is having is that climate change isn't cooperating. Your predictions routinely fail to the extent that warmers had to start fires in Australia for there to be a consequence of climate change. I'm still waiting for the Gulf Coast to be battered by hurricanes that make the 05 season seem light. Global agricultural output continues to grow. We're not going to embrace rash policy on a string of failed doomsday predictions.

We don't exert a solar minimum. It is a natural cycle of the sun. Something else we don't and can't currently control.
