The middle class and upper-middle class in the U.S. are Republicans.

The very poor and the very rich are Democrats.

    Easy.....
You establish a cut off point for middle class people who then pay no federal tax and use a flat rate for those amounts above. For example, no tax on the first $32 k then 25%( or whatever is established ) on the remaining amount.
Some one then earning $100 k pays $17 k while someone earning $32 k page nothing. If everyone payed 25%, a $32k wage earner would have $26 k left and qualify for poverty level and still have to pay pay roll, state local taxes. He’d be working for nothing.

Are you saying this scenario exists or is a possible scenario?

It’s easily possible. It’s simple math. But, You can’t have many deductions. The gop just managed to create a huge deficit by cutting taxes and promising they would eliminate many deductions...which they did not.

I believe there has been a misunderstanding. Another member has been claiming we now have a flat tax system. I’m looking for evidence that is in fact the case.

Deficits are certainly a problem, but need to be addressed from the spending side. Clearly nobody will ever do that. Even if deductions were eliminated to increase revenue in the short term, these clowns from both parties would piss it all away and the deficit would remain and grow.

You’re making conjectures not based upon fact. Deficits are created by spending more then you take in. They are the major problem in our economy. They ultimately lead to recessions when money does not go back into the economy.. Spending money on infrastructure and domestic entitlements all goes back into the economy. Rebuilding foreign countries we just destroyed, does not.

Wait, didn’t the right say that congress past economic legislation ?
When Obama increased taxes by allowing the Bush tax cuts to sunset with the dem controlled congress, the economy started to grow. It’s not rocket science.

No wage earner pays no federal tax. They all pay payroll taxes. The surplus goes into the general fund. It’s a fallacy that just because one pays no direct federal income tax, they don’t pay a federal tax.

It's for sure true that a lot of great person has not been to school. There is home school and other stuff like that in this world.

Me too I think it would be a good thing that all would be aware of this.

because if you count all taxes everyone pays between 25 and 30% basically except for the poorest. Count all taxes instead of being brainwashed into only thinking about federal income taxes. Google the only tax graph you need to know. State and local taxes fall twice as much on the Non Rich obviously, and the payroll tax is about the same amount as federal income taxes and ditto. Wake up sleeping beauty

Yes Obama was totally obstructed except on Obamacare which by the way was mainly a tax on the rich. And the greatest social reform for the non rich we have had since Medicare and Medicaid.

Obama was in no way a disaster an individual liberty. He was not for a mandate originally on Obamacare. Congress changed that.
