As every translation is obviously Biased (incorrect), and therefore the "Biblical Marriage" would also be subject to such an incorrect bias.....why should it be respected?

Simply put, you don't have to respect it. Just like I don't have to respect a cow's mating season.

Why should the government be involved in marriage in the first place? Whether you respect Biblical marriage or not, why should the gubbermint have its claws on marriage?

    Wrong.

Protestantsm is a 16th century western European invention.

You're not one of those people who thinks creationism ought to be taught in schools, are you?

If a wealthy man built a replica of the facilities used to train astronauts and used them, can he call himself a real astronaut?

If a bunch of people brought a copy of the US Constitution with them to a desert island and set up a government based on the belief that the current US "fell from the path as established by the Founding Fathers," should the international community view it as a legitimate alternative to the United States?

I am really not interested in entertaining the No True Scottsman Fallacy.

Protestants call themselves Christian and are accepted as such. If you have a problem with it, take it up with them.

    I really don't care.

Perhaps they ought to get out of the marriage business, since they are having such a hard time figuring out what should be allowed and what shouldn't be. Let people make their own decisions regarding romance, unimpeded by the slothful and dull witted government.

Well, I have a problem with my thoughts being mislabelled.

And besides, there can be a difference between what a person perceives themself to be and what they actually are.

    My people?

    You've missed the point.

Protestants are no more Christian than Muslims. Both ideologies were started by men who twisted the teachings of Christianity into new religions.

Hell, the only (significant) doctrinal difference between Muslims and certain Protestant sects is that the Muslims view Jesus as a prophet, rather than as as God. (Now that I think about it, there are Protestants who believe this as well. You can find a flavor of Protestantism for whatever strikes your fancy, I suppose. And if not, go invent your own! Protestantism is all about rejecting absolutes.)

And I never claimed to be religious.

Oh, I have already dabbled Protestantism, I view it as nothing more than destructive.

Perhaps....and likely once they create the environment where people can make their own decisions, they will.

LOL ... what part of "lay hold on her" did you not understand ?

Clearly you have no knowledge of Mosaic Law. Young women could be sold into slavery. She was property to be sold if her father saw fit.

It is not like women had no rights. Even slaves had rights under Jewish law. She was her fathers property until she was married. If she bore children to her husband she gained even more rights.

    Did Abraham marry Hagar?

Jacob married Leah but since he had the hots for her sister Rachel he married her as well. He then popped some kids out of Leah's and Rachel's maids. You know what the Bible says about illegitimate children.

The Sermon on the Mount is where to go for Christianity, surely? Think of some of the nutty stuff that is in the OT - old tribal taboos and such from the dawn of human evolution!

Doesn't mean that God recognised them as marriages. Genesis is most clear on what marriage is.

They dont have to live by the OT laws like you listed and the jews stopped it long ago. Only Muslims still liver live by archaic laws .

I doubt god dished out those hundreds of laws anyhow Purely creatiob of man imo .

Anyways any person who has the rebirth of consciousness where god is dwelling in them has the right morality imprinted upon their hearts and lack the desire to sin.

Well even non-Christians have the right morality imprinted upon their hearts. They just don't lack the desire to sin.

I agree that everyone (at least every mentally healthy adult) has the right morality imprinted upon their hearts. It is, however, completely incompatible with the God of the Bible, unless we are able to admit that the Bible has flaws.

Does the following ring a bell?
For verily I say unto you, Till
heaven and earth pass, one jot or one
tittle shall in no wise pass from
the law, till all be fulfilled.

That's from the Hebrew Bible, when are you people going to get it through your heads that Jews follow OT law, not us?

I've noticed that atheists use it selectively.

So, it is correct to assume you do not follow the Bible as God defined it but do at least own a copy of the one man created afterward?
