No, media does not exist as a force in itself. Media reflects the ideas of society, so the problem is cultural rather than medial. Garbage culture creates garbage entertainment that feeds garbage culture.

In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, charity is part of the Law.

Most users here are political fanboys who have to turn even sociological matters into one about "GOP vs DNC".

Taxes are not theft. People who can not support themselves need State help.

The vast majority of them really can not.

Perhaps the Society should provide reasonable living standards for all people. Not luxury, but support.

I disagree. Especially with advertising and entertainment. If you pay attention to movies especially, cultural ideas are introduced well before they become common practice.

On sexuality specifically, it’s used in advertising because it sells stuff. The consequences are probably unintentional but that is probably debatable if you consider the linkage between promiscuity, alcohol abuse, and impulsive buying behaviors.

It should be a voluntary charity run by the government then, give if you want to give. AmeriCAN's should never be forced to expend their tax money on able bodied AmeriCANT's.

Yes, media can certainly be used to manipulate and influence attitudes with propaganda, but only under the right cultural circumstances. Usually, media reflects culture and serves to cement it.

That was only possible after the cultural changes brought by the Sexual Revolution™.

of course it only applies to the right if you think taking away food stamps, eliminating insurance for healthcare, cutting Medicare and Medicaid. Creating concentration camps for children, eliminating protection for gays, etc, etc, fulfill your requirements for compassion.

This suggests an agenda, though. Which in turn suggests a conspiracy.

In socialist societies (most of the Third and some of the Second World), disability does not obviate earning your keep. The 90 year old grandmother who's confined to her chair will mend clothing, keep an eye on the small children, chop vegetables, etc. The intellectually impaired 20 year old will be taken to fields to work under the supervision of his/her relatives, etc.

Certainly an agenda. I guess whether you consider it’s conspiracy depends on whether you agree or disagree with the agenda. :)
