You have a better chance of getting the Whistleblowers Mama on the stand than getting impeachment/removal ruled on by the SCOTUS...

As his client, Crazy Donnie, Dershowitz is a double-talker.

Although he admittedly didn't vote for Trump, according to what he has said in the past few years and according to his bio, he's not a democrat. He identifies as a 'civil libertarian.'

He called himself a "liberal Democrat" yesterday. It seems that the "old school" Democrats were much more Libertarian before the party shifted so far to the radical left over the years.

Dershowitz: "But I think the Senate and the country are helped when they hear from somebody like me who is a liberal Democrat, who has always voted Democrat, who has strong views on impeachment. I had strong views even when Nixon was impeached. Although I favored his impeachment, I urged the ACLU not to take a position, but instead to defend his civil liberties when he was named an unindicted coconspirator. I took the same position when Bill Clinton was impeached and I'm taking the same position now.

I think it's very valuable for the Senate to hear that kind of point of view and then let it make its decision."

Anyway, whether he's a liberal Democrat or a civil Libertarian, his input will hopefully add some value to the trial.

The issue is(and where Alan has evolved, to use Liberal terminology) is that "abuse of power" is subjective and flimsy. One person's abuse, is another person's belief that it's in the purview of presidential authority. Here, particularly, the President has not used political power(of any kind) but rather subjectively the claim is that he withheld the aid to pressure the Ukrainians.

If the President's defense team can disprove even just this single fact, everything else surrounding the Ukrainian call is irrelevant and will be voted irrelevant. We might not even get any witnesses, Mitch will vote to dismiss immediately.

I will put My Constitutional Knowledge against his ANY Day (and Twice on Sunday).

I find it hard to fathom that you would make such assumptions about my background (given that we have never met).

    Puzzling.

And Pelosi said she doesn’t need proof to impeach, just accusations. You understand that’s fracking insane right? She’s lost her marbles.

She didn't need that comment to show she lost her marbles, but that comment will be as consequential as when Trump commented on Bergdahl. If I were Trump's defense team, I'd harp all over Pelosi's statement as proof of the lack of evidence in the charges.

Yep when they start digging up past stance's you know it. Funny how CNN will dig up Lindsay Graham or Deroshwitz but to my knowledge I've never seen them dig up old video of Pelosi or Schumer.

May I suggest you read the Articles of Impeachment. That will clear things up for you. Impeachment is not part of the criminal code. Congress cannot impose a sentence, only remove from office. Criminal code has no relevance.

If we impeach for non-criminal behavior (we never have before this), we’re starting down a very slippery slope.

Sure they have... they have Schumer taking the pro-Clinton position in 1998.... everybody changes, but it's just so much more obvious from the right wing....

I think moreso than the different impeachment positions, it can be more simply put: No one wants to be here. And we shouldn't be here. Before all this began in April, every Democratic candidate was 10+ ahead of Trump, now it's a deadheat. It wasn't the right decision and McConnell needs to end it as quick as possible.

It's sketchy if the Biden's didn't commit a crime, but damn legal if they did.

True, impeachment is entirely political. That point has been well established. There has been no criminal activity only vengeful allegations, all political and without merit. The House can impeach with zero regard for the constitution as long as they have a majority of fools willing to vote yea.

Therefore, I would move for a motion to dismiss at the earliest possible opportunity. Any form of exoneration is meaningless since there has been no crime and nothing to be held guilty for.

Bottom line ... nearly every president has done much worse than Trump. Where were the Dems then? Where were they when FDR put Americans in internment camps? Or when LBJ lied to the American people about the Vietnam War and sent 57,000+ young Americans to die?

This is selective prosecution against the bad Orangeman. That's why Americans aren't taking this seriously. In the grand scheme of things, what Trump has done deserves something really severe: take away his golfing privileges for a week.

You understand historians are going to chuckle at this impeachment, right?
