I just heard Cipollone open with saying Zelinsky talked about Merkle in the transcript. I couldn't find it.
Cipollone is pointing out the Groper-in-Chief's reference to a shared burden during the July 25 call, appearing to make this point as a way of explaining why Trump ultimately withheld military aid from the country. Another epic fail by these lying sacks of shyte. Pentagon Letter Undercuts Trump Assertion On Delaying Aid To Ukraine Over Corruption "Eight European embassies in Washington contacted by NPR on Wednesday reported no attempts by the Trump administration over the summer to increase their contributions to Ukraine. "There was no effort at all," said a senior official at the German Embassy, who requested anonymity to speak freely. "The topic was not brought up at all at recent meetings we've had." https://www.npr.org/2019/09/25/7644...ertion-on-delaying-aid-to-ukraine-over-corrup
Another lie. Someone needs to object to these lies. "Deputy White House counsel Michael Purpura spent a significant amount of time claiming that Ukraine did not learn about the presidential hold on military aid until late August — well after the July 25 Trump phone call." Ukraine Inquired About Aid on Same Day as Trump-Zelensky Call, Official Testifies https://www.wsj.com/articles/ukrain...-zelensky-call-official-testifies-11574295133
Former Ukraine official says country knew of military aid freeze in July https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...l-says-country-knew-of-military-aid-freeze-in A former deputy foreign minister said in a new interview that Ukraine was aware of a U.S. freeze in military aid as early as July, marking the first public acknowledgement from an official in Kyiv that the country knew about President Trump’s move to withhold the assistance. “We had this information. It was definitely mentioned there were some issues,” Olena Zerkal told The New York Times in a report published Tuesday. ............................................................................................................................................. Ukraine’s government learned of the military aid freeze during the Trump administration’s pressure campaign — and tried to keep that knowledge from going public, an ex-deputy foreign minister said. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/03/...ment-military-aid.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share
Deputy WH counsel M. Purpura sought to downplay the importance of two House witnesses who expressed concerns about the July call in which the Bloviator-in-Chief pressed Zelensky for investigations that could benefit him politically, according to a rough transcript of the call. Purpura noted that “the president sets the foreign policy in a democracy such as ours” and not staff such as Lt. Col. Vindman, a NSC official who raised concerns about the call. .................................................................................................................................................. No one is questioning a prez's authority to set foreign policy. The concerns being raised were about Trump's self-serving motivation for the extortion scheme.
Sekulow held up part one of the report by Mueller and noted that $32 million, 2,800 subpoenas and 500 search warrants ended with the conclusion that it could not be established that the Trump campaign coordinated (not true) or conspired with Russia in the 2016 election. That is certainly Billy the Bagman's spin. But while a legally defined criminal conspiracy could not be shown............. https://www.justsecurity.org/62675/...w-frame-critical-question-heart-trump-russia/ https://www.justsecurity.org/63838/guide-to-the-mueller-reports-findings-on-collusion/
Sekulow noted that several House impeachment inquiry witnesses acknowledged that foreign aid is held up all the time for a variety of reasons. Absolutely true. BUT NEVER for the personal, political gain of the prez himself as Trump did. Rather, with the country's interests in mind.
I think we have a robotic manure spreader that has developed some kind of endless repeating cycle here, dumping crap on crap on crap. We need actual brains on these things.
Imagine that. Now if the rest of the herd would read the transcript for themselves instead of listening to lying Adam POSchiff.
Team Turd claims the unprecedented, historic stonewalling was justified. Philbin argued, “The problem here is there is no standing rule, there was no standing authority giving manager Schiff’s committee the authority to use the power of impeachment to issue compulsory process,” he said. “The House Democrats skipped over that step completely.” Many congressional and legal experts dispute this logic. For one, the Constitution leaves it to the House to write its own impeachment rules; nowhere does it say the House must hold a vote on impeachment subpoenas. ....................................................................................................... Clearly these specious arguments, completely absent of merit, are meant to reinforce the lies Trumpette's have been told by the admin and by right wing media.
Sekulow once again broached the lie about Ukraine being involved in election interference. Fiona Hill chides Republicans for pushing ‘fictional’ narrative on Ukraine https://www.marketwatch.com/story/f...than-russia-attacked-2016-election-2019-11-21 "Hill, a former aide to then-national security adviser John Bolton, sternly warned Republican lawmakers — and implicitly Trump — to quit pushing a “fictional” narrative that Ukraine, rather than Russia, interfered in U.S. elections. Trump has told others testifying in the inquiry that Ukraine tried to “take me down” in the 2016 election. Republicans launched their questioning Thursday reviving those theories. Hill declared: “I refuse to be part of an effort to legitimize an alternative narrative that the Ukrainian government is a U.S. adversary, and that Ukraine — not Russia — attacked us in 2016.”
Schiff focused on the arguments that Trump was concerned with financial burden-sharing by other countries when he held back aid to Ukraine and that there was no explicit quid pro quo in the conversation between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. If this had been about burden-sharing, “you wouldn’t have (Trump) saying, call ‘Giuliani,’ you’d have him saying call ‘Angela,’ ” Schiff said, referring to the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel.
Senate Intel found no evidence of 2016 Ukrainian interference: report https://thehill.com/homenews/senate...-no-evidence-of-top-down-ukraine-interference Senate panel look into Ukraine interference comes up short https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/02/senate-panel-ukraine-election-interference-074796
The fact checking on the seed is almost as bad as that of the idiots who operate Media Bias Fact Check. It’s sad that there are people who rely on what either have to say.
Actually, it started in January 2016. A meeting between Obama and Ukraine Prosecutors checked in by the future Ukraine whistle blower. It was a meeting about hiding the problem with Hunter Biden being paid $50K / month for every $1B in Aid Ukraine got. A participant who worked in the embassy said that later the DNC asked him to dig up dirt on Trump and his campaign.
"With the impeachment inquiry charging forward, President Donald Trump’s allies have defended his demand for political investigations from Ukraine by claiming that the government in Kyiv tried to sabotage his candidacy and boost Hillary Clinton in 2016. But the Republican-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee thoroughly investigated that theory, according to people with direct knowledge of the inquiry, and found no evidence that Ukraine waged a top-down interference campaign akin to the Kremlin’s efforts to help Trump win in 2016. The committee’s Republican chairman, Richard Burr of North Carolina, said in October 2017 that the panel would be examining “collusion by either campaign during the 2016 elections." But an interview that fall with the Democratic consultant at the heart of the accusation that Kyiv meddled, Alexandra Chalupa, was fruitless, a committee source said, and Republicans didn’t follow up or request any more witnesses related to the issue." https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/02/senate-panel-ukraine-election-interference-074796 ........................................................................................................................................... So................Team Turd is floating a bullshyte story promoted by the Russians to deflect blame on to Ukraine.
I chide base unsupported speculation as a poor attempt to cover for rampant political corruption on the part of the American delegation in the Ukraine.
Which means nothing other than the fact that they didn't go through those embassies or that they decided trying wasn't worth the trouble since they were going to give the aid anyway.
One should remember that in the age of Trump any alphabet soup media reference to unnamed source will translate 90% in English to "We couldn't find anything so we made it up on the fly."
The phone call is damning enough. But it's easier for them to focus on just that and ignore all the evidence that came out as a result of investigating it. That's why they focus on the Bidens, the whistleblower, the fact that Trump never said "I am hereby extorting you", and that at that point in time Zelensky might not even have known that he was being extorted.
