Why all the silence following today's hearings? Never mind, the answer is painfully obvious.

I'm actually not either, but the Trump treatment of Congress since McGahn (combined with the ridiculous timeframe any eventual Judicial remedy might take) are scary as hell.

Then you combine that with the clearly anti-Constitutional argument made by the Trump DOJ in the McGahn appeal 3 weeks ago, you clearly see where this could go if somebody (the Senate) doesn't put a stop to it ASAP

    SNIP
Judge Karen Henderson pointedly asked the Justice Department lawyer whether the administration believes the House could never ask the courts to enforce a subpoena against the executive branch.

“That is our position, your honor,” Mooppan said.

    WTF?

    They're advancing terrible, baseless arguments.

Where does that come from? I think we know---and it's not from anyone trained in the law.

The law is the master of whoever wields it, and Trump was elected in 2016. That's some tough pills to swallow.

The House has the "sole power" of impeachment under the Constitution. If a President refuses to comply with requests from the House during an impeachment inquiry, he has, by definition, engaged in the obstruction of Congress.

It is not a difficult issue.

Trump doesn't make the law. He is supposed to carry it out. He's failed.

So, according to you, the rule of law is meaningless?

I refuse to accept bullshit like that. This is America, not some banana republic.

You've been watching too much Game of Thrones.

The large population states, obviously. But, then add the small, liberal states, when the EC is perceived to be a means of keeping the minority party in power. And, also factor in shifting demographics (as in Georgia). Don't think it will happen soon...but possibly over the next 50 years.

Well that's the problem-the left constantly finds ways to push the law or straight up violate it.

This is the reason that a conservative minded SCOTUS over the next several decades is so beneficial.

I thought the evidence was overwhelming?

If so, then the there should be enough evidence to convict, but there isn't.

Easier to count states that I think wouldn't vote for a popular vote: The Dakotas, Wy, UT, MT, MS, AL, SC, ID, RI, AK, AR.

Hmmm...Eisenhower thought Earl Warren was a conservative. Plus, I don't consider the current Trump GOP to be "conservatives." Most of the genuine conservatives, such as Kristol and Will have left the Party.

I don't think so. The RINOs are those left. I was a Republican between Nixon and Bush Junior. Left the Democrats because I felt the McGovern faction took it too far left. Left the Republicans because I felt GW took it too far right. I didn't leave the Parties, so much as the parties left me.

Impeach him for "obstruction of Congress", have him held in contempt of Congress, or force compliance through federal courts.

Note that since impeachment is within the "sole power" of the House, it is not obligated to enforce compliance though federal court.

Interesting. So you think that Wyoming will ratify an amendment that curtails Wyoming's political influence?
