It's simple minded binary thinking with Trump haters. Their mentality is you are either consumed with bitter hate or you support him, 110%. They can see no shades of grey between black and white.

imo Trump is likely following the advice of Marcus Aurelius: Do not be wise in words, be wise in deeds.

How so? I'm on the record several places here disagreeing with President Trump and criticizing him.

    Non-reponsive.

What would Pence (or any other Republican) not do were he President?. Why the cult like devotion to Trump?

Re. - that, no worries, lol...

Many, like myself, are 'cultists' - to the notion of a Constitutional, representative republic; a sovereign nation imbued w/ inherent personal liberties & freedoms unfettered by the bureaucracy of onerous governmental overreach... Trump is just a fleetingly temporal cog in the wheel toward this furtherance. :)

I will answer only when you renounce making any future references to Trump supporters as "cult like".

Ignore it. Name calling is a sign of desperation.

I will do so just as soon as they stop behaving in a cult like manner. Obviously it's not all Trump supporters but unfortunately a significant number.

Then simply stop referring to Trump supporters at "cultists" in any thread I'm posting in because as even you would acknowledge, I'm obviously not one.

Trump is an idiot. You know that. I know that. Almost everyone on both sides know that.

    So move on.

Therein lies a lot of the problem. Move on. That implies that I should accept it as the new norm. NO! I will never accept bullying and acting like a petulant 3rd grader the new White House norm.

Perhaps that's because Trumpette's rarely display nuance of thought. They're all in by their own words.

"STEVEN HASSAN, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR: So I define a destructive cult as an authoritarian pyramid structured group with someone at the top who claims to have total power and total wisdom that uses deception and control of behavior, information, thoughts, and emotions to make people loyal, and dependent, and obedient followers.

So for me, the issue between an ethical healthy cult where you're free to think and free to leave versus a destructive cult, I'm referring to Trump's organization and followership as a destructive cult where people are being fed propaganda and they're not being encouraged to think for themselves and not be encouraged to really explore and look at the details and arrive at their own conclusion.

Much of what they're hearing is emotionally driven loaded words, thoughts stopping and thought-terminating type cliches like fake news, or build the wall, or make America great again."

I can understand you viewpoint on this; just like non-trump supporters hate the so called term "TDS".

It is not the new norm even if Trump serves 8 years. Trump is a one off (fortunately). No other potential president that we can see on the horizon from either party acts or is likely to act remotely like him.

You really don't see this in campaigns all over? There has always been mud slinging but we're seeing a complete loss of civility.
Perhaps not the petulant 3rd grader, few would debase themselves that far. Junior high angst sure but not 3rd grade.

That great, but changes nothing about what I said. It's possible to agree with Trump in some areas and disagree in others. That's what the Trump haters cant seem to comprehend.

Maybe not in real life, but on this forum the majority of Trump supporters are cultists.

Exempt from that label are: Dayton3, Seth Bullock, 557, FAW, and maybe a couple of others, who I forgot in that list.

For me, the hallmark of a cultist is the inability to criticize their leader or their own side. Clearly, most Trump fans on here fall into that category.

The funny thing, while they do not like to be called cultists, they had no problem attacking Obama voters as praying to their Messiah. What goes around comes around....

Mind you, it's not just a stereotype. Cult specialists demonstrate the fact. Non-partisan specialists. They don't think it's "very few". Not all, of course but... far from "very few". But I've been in trouble before on this topic so... better not go too deep into it.

You really think that presidential campaigns have not had uncivil mudslinging before? Check out when Andrew Jackson was elected president. The allegations made against him were so extreme that when his wife came across a flyer with several of the allegations she promptly died!!!

Jackson was pissed off about that the rest of his life.

MA knew a thing or two.

"10. Letting go all else, cling to the following few truths. Remember that man lives only in the present, in this fleeting instant: all the rest of his life is either passed and gone, or not yet revealed. This mortal Life is a little thing, lived in a little corner of the earth; and little, too, is the longest fame to come — dependent as it is on a succession of fast-perishing Little men who have no knowledge even of their own selves, much less of one long Dead and gone." Marcus Aurelius Meditations, Translated by Maxwell Staniforth, Penguin Books, NY, 2005. Book Three, p. 25.

No, most people do not "know" that. ;-)

"Is there a way out? And we saw that around the country people are not hopeful. They’re very aware that this person pulled off something unimaginable. To have someone who appears to be an idiot beat the smartest person ever to run for the president of the United States, that takes some evil genius and for him to outsmart us is part of our pain, I think".
