A very small one, yes. For the sole purpose of carrying temporarily unproductive members.

We were talking about socialism and the key to whether or not something is socialist is if production is collectivized. BTW, there are private collectives--farmer cooperatives, for example--so the two choices you generously provided are incorrect.
There is no official definition of socialism, so I have no idea what you're talking about.
Do you know anything about Canada? I was born and raised in California, then later acquired Canadian citizenship to go with a U.S. citizenship. I've tried to explain why very few Canadian hospitals are private, for profit, institutions. I mentioned the Catholic hospital in Vancouver (St. Paul's) that will be rebuilt in a new location with government funds.
I'm continuing to engage with you for the benefit of others who may want to follow the discussion. I taught economics and history and think I have something to worthwhile offer.
It's no different than a local school board that operates as a government corporation.
What's your point? I worked in public schools for years.
I'm not. in fact, I'm not confused about any of this stuff.

IQ tests are not "meaningless," but they have problems in their construction and what they measure. Most of the educators I've worked with look upon them as sometimes identifying potential we may have overlooked or discounted.

Or a long time, especially if the enterprise sells overseas. BC Hydro (the electric company in British Columbia) sells electricity to this country.

I want them to earn a market wage that isn't jacked up by a limited supply.
    What country is that?

They ARE meaningless. Intelligence is no longer measured as a general indicator of intellect. It’s specific. Since all skills can be improved upon, you’re better off not using a test that pretends otherwise.

We have those specific skill tests. They are called aptitude tests. Remind your “educator” friends of that

Oh, it’s gone from none to a few. I said it was a combination of the two. Sources ?

    https://www.mapleleafweb.com/featur...verview-public-and-private-participation.html

“Generally speaking, Canada has a mixed public-private system — a system where the private sector delivers health care services and the public sector is responsible for financing those services.”

^ This is what I said, can't you read? And no, not everyone is "skilled" in the sense that their their abilities are all the same, some skilled craftsmen are superior ability wise. A carpenter is not the same as a furnituremaker. And no IQ tests DO NOT measure only intelligence in certain areas and subjects, they measure your reasoning and problem solving abilities, which is what makes you a good carpenter or cabinetmaker.

No, they don't, and if you'd have ever taken one you'd know that. IQ tests measure your reasoning and problem solving abilities, which is what makes you better at both skilled trades and just about anything else.

IQ tests have never been determined to be meaningless, although I realize average people are inclined to think that. It's "categorize", by the way.

Then its not what you said...

If IQ tests are such a great metric, you'd think businesses and agencies and research firms would hire people based at least in part on their IQ. Can you list off those that do, or explain why they dont?

Good grief. There is nothing I've written on this forum that anyone would reasonably interpret as favoring socialism. Nothing.

Enough. You think you have an idea what goes on in Canada, but you don't.

Well, one is Akzo Nobel, another is Valspar, another is P.P.G Industries....chemical companies. It's not the Stanford Binet IQ test but it is tailored to their industry. How do I know that? Because I have taken them.

"Intelligence is no longer measured as a general indicator of intellect." What's wrong with this sentence?

Thats one way to not answer a question...

'Tailored to their industry' is another way of saying not an IQ test.

it appears the Canadians have been coddled for an entire generation, when America is great again their descendants will have to pay the toll like everyone else.

Nothing. Because as usual, your post didn’t include the entire paragraph. Reading comp problems keep some people from reading more then one sentence at a time. That’s the real issue.
