People propose all kinds of crazy things. Sometimes they even pass locally but then get stomped by a court. But nonsense or abusive laws usually don't last long.

There is nothing new under the sun. And most of the hype about liberals only applies to the fringe. There are some crazy liberals. But most liberals aren't crazy.

You also have to allow for the often naive and idealistic views of young people. Young people often do get too emotional and attached to ideas and causes. But that isn't being liberal. That is just being young. And the fact is, most of the protest issues from the 60s and early 70s by young "radical" hippies, turned out to be dead on. Likewise, "the lost generation" brought us the information age, laptops and mobile phones, nanotechnology, and genetic engineering.

Sanctuary cities is another matter. That is a religious issue. Am I my brother's keeper? It's the whole obnoxious "do unto others" and "that which you do to the least of my brethren, you do to me", "we must help the the less fortunate" mentality. Horrible people who think that way, one and all. ;)

Common in other nations but it won’t pass and would definitely be unconstitutional.

California is so weird. "We don't care if you **** all over the streets, but by god, you will vote". Strangest priorities ever.

    Very simple.

If you don't vote they vote for you.

"Yeah, another one for our side!"

Next they'll pass a law giving the votes to other states where the democrats need them.

The Red States hate the idea because they don't want to allow any black people to vote in any election. They have been fighting voting rights since Feb 3, 1870. That is 150 years.

Barely anyone cares about race anymore, even in red states. The media just perpetuates it, making it way bigger than it actually is. They are pretty nauseating in that regard.

Is that the reason why? It couldn't have anything to do with improper use of government force against citizens?

Most likely, a law like this would disproportionately affect minorities. Statistics show that in California, a higher percentage of whites vote as compared to minorities. I would hope the ACLU would step in and file a suit.

Actually........it is impossible to 'require' a vote. Sure, you can require people (under pain of fine if you don't) to attend a Polling Booth and get ticked off the Roll as having done that...but once that has happened, you can walk out....without casting a vote, or as most people do, go into a booth, draw a dick (or whatever takes your fancy) on the ballot paper, fold it up, put it in the box with a smile, and depart.

I was wondering how long it would take before someone would read the link and point out that this bill has not even been scheduled for a first reading in committee yet. One assemblyman was planning to throw this idea in the hopper. three pages of pearl clutching by republicans and conservatives over a skeleton of an idea that is likely never to get near a mark-up session.

At least your used the word "likely" ... ...Recent "California" has a track record that fits this crap becoming law perfectly. It's perfectly logical people would react to this.

And as they like to say, "those poor black folks, how can you expect them to obtain ID'' But it's Cali, probably does not require one.

I've vote for over 50 years and have never shown an ID to do so. Where do you live, in a commie country?

You can vote your way into communism or socialism, but you have to fight your way out.

That would never work in Iowa because they can't count beyond 2 (two).

The "compromise" bill will let you avoid jail time - if you allow the State of California to vote for you.

They don't value freedom as much as we do. No one on the planet values freedom from government as much as Americans do.
