We need the entire package including an effective e-verify program that makes illegals radioactive to employers. Big fines for every illegal hired; flagrant hiring, jail for the employer. No job, not many reasons to sneak across the border, overstay a visa, or hang around.

I beg to differ. The socialists ran the oil industry into the ground.

Well, I see that you had mine and @Josephwalker replies on page 1 from Saturday edited by a moderator so no need to reply to you anymore. Taking out of context is definitely a liberal move.

In Mexico now it is extremely dangerous to oppose the drug cartels. It needs to be made extremely dangerous to be associate with the cartels. If the Mexican Marines can't do this we should help them. We must have some expert assassins.

In states where pots been legalized pot dealers still flourish. Government has a way of trying to make money off of drugs with heavy taxes so illegal pot is actually cheaper.

You would do that to everyday folks who got hooked on opioids by their doctors? Why?

What I said. We shouldn't let Bone Spurs get away with making a lot of noise about a wall and then not having an effective e-verify program. We could use a card similar to a Nexus Pass that can be read by a smartphone. No one should hire an illegal, ever--not to mow your law or babysit your children. There should be a nasty fine if you're caught hiring an illegal and jail for flagrant violations.

saves billions for taxpayers, actually trillions if you include all the medical, legal, & enforcement costs...

You did notice I said decriminalize, not legalize--right? I do happen to agree with legalizing some drugs, including tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana.

I agree with what you said above about marijuana. Government is really dropping the ball. We need to get the marijuana supply chain separated from other drugs.

Because these people don't hook other people or engage in criminal behavior when they're not deprived of their drugs.
What medical costs? The legal and enforcement costs are a product of the misguided "war in drugs."

medical costs of drug abuse/addiction are staggering & well documented as well as the legal costs beared by the taxpayers. then theres the crimes committed by those abusers/addicts, many of which result in the needless deaths of innocent folk...

Yes, your prohibition has made matters worse. Nobel Laureates like Friedman and Becker pointed that out decades ago--prohibition makes things worse, even for those who don't use the prohibited drugs.

I'm glad to see you've come to realize that conservatives like William Buckley have been pointing this out for years.

Well, there are choices, for the intelligent man. Either continue the rotten status quo, or change it by repealing the faulty legislation.

Utopia is NEVER an option, but we can improve the present situation.

I'm for decriminalization of drug use but a continuing war on drugs and drug dealers.

And those who presently hold office will never allow such to happen. Even those who run for office on the platform of repealing such legislation do not follow through once they gain office, as they only disagree with it when they do not hold political power.

I'm for decriminalization for users but we can still have a war on drug importation, manufacturing and selling.

The most effective thing we can do in discouraging drug use is getting the money out of the game.

Correct. The government will maintain the status quo, no matter how immoral, illegal or irrational that is.

Neither will the government tell the truth about alien contact, 911, assassination of JFK and others. The government will continue the charade, and the masses will continue to believe the lies.
