President Donald Trump announced that Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany, will become acting director of national intelligence, a move that puts a staunch Trump ally in charge of the nation's 17 spy agencies, which the president has only tepidly embraced.

Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Trump had “selected an individual without any intelligence experience to serve as the leader of the nation’s intelligence community in an acting capacity.”

“The intelligence community deserves stability and an experienced individual to lead them in a time of massive national and global security challenges," Warner said in a statement. “Now more than ever our country needs a Senate-confirmed intelligence director who will provide the best intelligence and analysis, regardless of whether or not it’s expedient for the president who has appointed him.”

C'mon.... REALLY?? This guy has ZERO experience in the intelligence community and he's going to be the nation's top intel official?? Correction... ACTING top intel official...

And Trump gets away with this **** by using the ACTING label, thus not requiring him not to be run by even this rubber stamp Senate. He can do that for non-important cabinet positions all he wants (Talking to you, Mick), but this one IS important.

This cannot be acceptable to even the most die hard Trumpheads on here... Can it?

Even a rubber stamp Senate approval is better than this....

The biggest security threat we currently face is from within ---- the radical Democrats and Obama holdovers ---- so I can understand why loyalty might be even more important than experience when choosing someone for nearly any position within the government.

We've seen how the system can be abused and corrupted and manipulated by "experienced" traitors.......... no thanks.

I'd rather have someone who might have less experience but is truly loyal to the country, rather than any traitor, even if that traitor also happens to be the most experienced person on the planet. If the traitor is using their experience against us, then we'd be safer even to appoint a monkey in their position instead.

I think maybe Trump's been burned enough, and he's learning. He should have cleaned house a long time ago. Loyalty to the country first and foremost.

First openly gay director of national intelligence. Very historical. Very post-modernist. Very ahead of the times.

Cheered loudly by the Hollywood gang.:roflol:

Nobody cares about his sexual orientation (well, with one obvious exception)...

This is a job that requires a very specific background and experience. Not like an ambassador, although it would be nice that our ambassadors were qualified as well.

This guy is not qualified at any level. And the conservatives celebrate that... Mystifying....

    It's Cambodia 1975...

If he turns out to be more honest and has more respect for the Constitution than Comey and Brennan the country is way ahead.

afaik not a single member of the Trump administration ever attended Cercle Marxiste in Paris and became leader of the Communists in his country -----

As did Pol Pot who became hard core Communist and initiated the killing fields in Cambodia in 1975.

But Comey was once a Communist.

Do I need to tell you the jobs Comey and Brennan had?? Seems so...

But by definition, this guy won't.... It's actually an oxymoron that this administration even has a department of national intelligence, much less a director of it...

Comey was once a Communist, like Pol Pot.

A man can get up to competence in any field with effort. Loyalty cannot be trained into a grown adult.

Voted for Communist Party USA and Gus Hall. Brennan never should have qualified to work in law enforcement or any intelligence agency.

Maybe we can hire somebody who graduated (High School) last year?? Or is that too much experience for you??

Talking about security and you have people like Ciramella floating around who along with the dems, attempted to bring down a sitting president vie a coup d'état.

Sadly we've seen career bureaucrats can't be trusted, so who does that leave? Not a big deal, the director doesn't have to slip on his trenchcoat and do dead drops...

    High School?

Why even expect that level of education from the Mindless (Inexperienced) Puppets that Trump is putting into these positions?

Apparently, based on his choice of Grenell:

All that Trump needs for a DNI is...

...Someone who Openly Gay (with No Experience)...

The Person Below checks off all of Trump's Boxes...

Exactly. Hence why I can understand loyalty trumping experience. We've seen where disloyal experience can get us! Some of the Trump haters really need to re-read post #2 and let it sink in.

It doesn't matter how experienced a person is if their first loyalty is to the Democrats and not to the country.

Bingo. IMO, if you work in Defense or Intelligence and you don't like Trump, that is fine. You don't have to like your boss. That is your right, and you're entitled to it. But, you do have to do your job. And when puts the nation at risk of attacks because you're more focused on bring down Trump, then that is a problem and a major one at that.

Yep.... just let us know when that happens, and I'll jump on board with you....

In the meantime, Trump will (continue) to get advice from novices... and ignore it like usual.

Yes men... the core of Trumpism...

I don't know. The last place I would look for advice would be from government. If I were president I would likely ignore most of it as well. The answer is smaller government.
