"In few places has the effect been felt more powerfully than in the sprawling 9th Circuit, which covers California and eight other states. Because of Trump's success in filling vacancies, the San Francisco-based circuit, long dominated by Democratic appointees, has suddenly shifted to the right, with an even more pronounced tilt expected in the years ahead.

Trump has now named 10 judges to the 9th Circuit — more than one-third of its active judges — compared with seven appointed by President Obama over eight years."

    Sanity.

Maybe we won't hear any more strange decisions. The trajectory of that court would have eventually given the right to vote in U.S. elections to Brazilian head hunters, who had never left their isolated Amazon village.

    Yup.

And the GOP loves an activist court if they support RW goals.

You make it sound as if that's unique to the RW:

What was it Obama said? Oh yes - "Elections have consequences."

And, if you don't like what Trump is doing, feel free not to vote for him.

    So, there's THAT.

There's nothing wrong with selecting judges who rule on cases based on the Constitution. That's preferable than having them rely on their feelings of what would be "fair".

Yes, and I cannot comprehend why the US denizens do not understand what those real consequences are, no matter who 'owns' the Executive.

That is, a totally corrupt Judiciary, blatantly politicised. Appalling stuff.

Makes one wonder if you said the same thing when Obama was appointing liberal judges.

I think the citizens have a higher majority in America.

How is it corrupt? Was it not corrupt when they packed them with left leaning judges? Is it bad I'd the judges uphold the constitution?

Why would a silly nickname worry anyone?

And that's a nice pic. Truth in it. This is a perfect example of how two branches together holds the other accountable.

I would have, if I had been here. You make my point. This blatant US politicisation of the Judiciary is the very antithesis of the delivery of real Justice. POTUS can stack it all the way to the top. Do you not see what that ultimately means?

    That makes no sense.

But, yes, it is corrupt for any POTUS to appoint right or left leaning Judges and that basis alone. Why can't you see the obvious corruption in that process?

There will always be a bias. That's human nature. Doesn't matter what system you use...from anarchy to totalitarian and everything in between. The best anyone can do is go for people that will hold up what it means to be a judge in the society they represent to the best of thier ability.

Sure, and at all times be beholden to just ONE MAN, the President of the United States. Yep, that'll work fine. Your Founding Fathers were not the geniuses 'you' reckon they are. The US Constitution is seriously flawed and one of the best things Trump has done is.......highlight that.

Except they're not beholden to a President. They are appointed for life. Far longer than any Presidents term in office. And there is only three ways for them to no longer be on the bench. Voluntary resignation, impeachment by Congress, and death. The President has no control over the Judiciary Branch beyond appointing the judge to be NOMINATED. Congress is the ones that ultimately decides yea or nay. Not the President.

Yeas, I am aware of that. But, no one gets to be Judge unless they are the fan boy/girl of some political partisan position. That is why they get the gig. Being legally competent is just a side show. 'You' cannot deny that. Well, you can......but it will not wash.

Welp, no need to point out anything more since you've made up your mind already. No point in a discussion when one isn't willing to listen.

Taking the Constitution as it is written and applying the law isn’t being an “activist”.

An activist takes a case and says:

“Well, I’m going to rule differently than what the Constitution says. But that document was written over 230 years ago, so I’m allowed a little flexibility”.

It's also wrong when the judges dont respect the constitution. So if these right leaning judges respect the constitution when they make decisions then they are perfect candidates. Political affiliation means nothing when your only job is to uphold the constitution.

Based off the stats of overturned rulings they flat out suck.

You don't get too excited, it is like a pendulum, swings both ways eventually, and if we know anything it is that more conservative judges eventually lean left of center than liberal judges do right of center
