Millions of people travel to Wuhan for an annual celebration. At least 3 million travelers left Wuhan before China locked down the city.

King County, WA has an Asian population of about 250,000. It would make sense if 5,000 (that's just a guestimate number...could be 3k, 10k, 50k) travelled to China to visit family and friends for the annual celebrations...especially if they are on student or work visas here.

China wanted the tourist income and millions of people left just days before lockdown. No one was being checked for travel because China hadn't announced the existence of the virus. Symptoms sounds like people could easily think they just have a cold. People would also have reasons to not want to get tested, knowing the they'll be put under mandatory quarantine for 2 weeks and don't want to miss work or school.

Media is being mysterious about who the person is who died, including conflicting stories on whether the person was male or female. They are talking about a rise in racism against Asians (which is a bad thing). The lack of details makes me think that the person who died lived in an Asian-dominant neighborhood and media doesn't want to increase irrational fears of Asians.

We'll see if they release any more details in the coming days.
