They didn't want the individual mandate. "We'll pay for our own healthcare", they said. Trump gave them what they wanted by eliminating the penalty (or tax... or whatever it is).

The corona virus test, when we have it in enough quantities, will be expensive. Estimates say between $400 and $500 each. If you feel sick, you will have to be tested. Not testing would make you a national health risk. Looks like Insurance companies have agreed to take the hit for those of us who have insurance. The government will have to pay for testing the uninsured.

So now what? Are you going to tell me that you are going to insist on coughing up $500 bucks for your test? Or will you just be freeloaders?

I will expect uninsured Trump followers to post your receipts on this forum. You know who you are. We know who many of you are, because you already admitted to it in threads about this.

Or maybe you'll just keep denying that the Corona Virus exists and claiming that it was made up by "liberals"?

I doubt it's very many since most RW-ers have this thing called jobs, and they sorta provide insurance. Heck, when I worked at Carl's Jr after a year. I ended up with health insurance. Since many LW-ers are out there protesting and suchlike, I imagine not as many are actually working.

I don’t have insurance. I have the ability to ensure I’m not exposed to this virus. In fact I’m too busy this time of year to go where other people are.

Sure, if for some reason I decide I want tested I’ll freaking pay for it. Just like I pay for everything else. If I do I’ll post a receipt. Big deal. A lot of people are posting on phones they paid over $500 for, me included. Geez.

And ... ? I had a dentist this week tell me that I needed a crown, which is going to cost me $1200+. It's not a big deal because I have this awesome thing called a "bank account" with this awesome stuff in it called "money", which I can exchange for goods or service. It's a sweet deal, really. You should look it up sometime. Start by searching for the topic "capitalism".

Whenever anyone says I "have to" do something, I like to ask them what will happen if I don't. What will happen if, despite your assurance that people who feel sick "will have to be tested", they choose not to? What if they just stay home, rest, and drink fluids? Are the green police going to kick down their door and force a test on them? Are we going to line them up against a wall and have them shot? What will be the consequences?

Again, why must it be this way? Why can't the uninsured pay for their own testing? Why is the only option you can imagine that "the government will have to"? Does your worldview not allow you to consider alternatives where people are free to make their own choices and deal with the outcomes that those choices lead to?

Well like most far rightrrs many of them rely on the single payper government ran insurance that is Medicare. (Funny how they are all for government healthcare when THEY are receiving the most benefits from it)

The test is purely for data. There is no benefit after being tested as the treatment is the same depending on symptoms.

The data gathered so far shows that people are highly infectious without symptoms so the test is largely pointless as the damage was probably already done.

 

There is a federal law that requires hospitals to accept, and treat, patients no matter their ability to pay. In 2019, it has been estimated that 42.9 million got the flu. Of which more then 600,000 required hospitalization. Many of those treated did not have insurance. Yet, they were still treated. That was without the Federal Government underwriting the expenditures. So, your point is mute.

When I first read the OP I seriously thought it was a joke. How much time does he have invested in writing such nonsense? But since you asked. Here are my options.
1. I will claim to be an illegal and get the test for free.
2. My company health plan will pay for it. It better because my premiums have tripled since Obama care.
3. I will pay out of pocket because I have a job.
4. If I get fired from my job my wife will pay because she has a job.
5. If she gets fired we will pay with savings because we are responsible with our finances.
6. If we get robbed, our accounts hacked, cars stolen, and the house burns down I guess I will have to ask for a government handout for the 1st time in my life.
7. Beg on the street.
8. Pretend to be a veteran with no legs and beg for money.
9. Sell my dog

 

You mean that stuff the government forces you to buy once you get old? That you then have to buy even more insurance to fill in the gaping chasms they call gaps, that Medicare?
