Free college, all you have to do is sign on the dotted line. Not sure if the Bernie Bros would do it, but here it is anyway....Free College!

Hahaha...... make a sacrifice for their country? Even if it's just sacrificing their comfortable lifestyles and their lattes for a stint? And assuming they'll be fit enough to get in? Hilarious.....

It's much easier for them to just get the rest of us to provide them "free college". Then they can sit around the coffee house on their spoiled lazy entitled asses complaining about "the man" and "evil capitalism" and "boomers".

    ;)

I don't actually know all the details, but I think its only for pre-existing loans.

Are rebates on new cars “bribery”?

I don’t think either case meets the legal definition of bribery.

B-B-But it would be difficult and a commitment! Also where are all the participation trophies?

:above:This is what is wrong with our country. People used to join the military because of patriotism and love of country. Nowadays too many people are just too f'ing selfish and lazy.

However, your attitude does highlight one potential problem with a program like this ---- does anyone really want to end up on the front line next to some selfish entitled bastard who is only there counting the days until he can get his college loans paid off?

hmmmmm...this doesnt seem new to me. Back when I was recruiting, if I remember correctly they paid off college debt regardless of MOS already. that was over a decade ago though. Things may have changed.

You get the GI Bill if you get out honorably. afaik they still pay for any semester hours you take while you're in. You get a huge lump sum paycheck if you reup. Every penny is earned and deserved.

It is an incentive - an incredibly expensive one. They should bring the troops home and stop being the planetary police force. Failing that, they should re-institute the draft.

Once upon a war it used to be you gotta go in, or else. Just about everybody was counting the days. And college dropouts made good drafted soldiers.

imo there can be no draft politically possible now except in the event of foreign attackers trying to take this land.

Nothing is politically possible. It would have to be done without politics.

Hell yeah! And we need to get rid of public schools period. If you cant afford to educate the youth in private schools then tough ****!

What good is an education to any nation and society ? They will just sit on their lazy butts and complain about something

I don't know about the Army, but the Navy and AF are in need of medical personal very badly, that they were offering to wipe out student loans completely. I have a couple of female friends who are going through a nursing program. They're considering taking a loan out for their BSN and then a commission in the Navy They're probably get it too

that had me puzzled as well, I know of at least 3 millennials that are in the service specifically due to a commitment made to enlist in exchange for schooling. my kid even considered it but decided to go another route.

That goes for any MOS. This is for going 11B (or 11C), which is a whole different world.

Yeah this isn't new. I got a college loan repayment plan during one of my re-enlistments. It's been around for a while.

Is your tuition reimbursement at work bribery? And you really going to complain about it?
