The concern is about health services becoming overwhelmed. That will cost lives to people of all ages though I accept that you may not mind the old dying and wonder what all the fuss is about. This seems to be how it is being sold in the UK. Person dies we are told, old and underlying health condition. It sort of sounds like the person was dead already. Many of these people would have had ten or twenty or even more years of life left in them ....but of course they are useless and not giving to the economy. Not only that they include a lot of 'boomers'. I heard people were making up songs about 'Boomers' dying here.

You are not right about 99% only getting a cold though. I have heard people who have recovered speaking about what it was like and it was more like a very bad flue - which does not mean that some people may not notice they have it, just that 99% is a big exaggeration. Death rate to a large degree depends on the medical help available and that is why it is essential not to get everyone needing help at the same time. On the Worldometre site the number of serious/critically ill has gone down to 7%. However the death rate has gone up to 7%. Hence at the moment the death rate of known cases is 7%. 1% is an chosen number. It is unlikely any country will be that low. The number who die to a large extent depends on having a good health service, keeping the health service functioning and Government policy for example on keeping numbers down. That will keep the death rate of those needing hospital treatment for things other than the virus down as well.

Some of you are STILL trying to compare this to a flu? It's not the flu. It's a coronavirus. It's deadlier than the flu and more easily spread. How anyone could not know this by now is beyond me. yep, and Obama handle it fine, the hospitals were not overloaded, he calmed the fear of the public by turning to the experts and letting them handle it

let's hope Trump can do the same - no one thinks Trump can stop this, but he can spread the time outward in order to not overload the medical system, he can reassure the public that the experts are on it - Pence was a good move, I just wish the experts didn't have to praise Donald at least once a day to massage Trump's fragile ego - that doesn't help build confidence that the experts are running the show

Ok Mr American Medical Journal I hate to tell you this but the CDC statistics for 2020 completely disprove your statement. If you have facts with reliable sources then by all means post them because so far you are way off.

were everyone of those flu deaths tested to see if it was Corona? .... if for every 3777 cases, 69 died, that would be a huge number, the facts are we do not know yet how many will die from this virus or need to be hospitalized, lets hope for the best

 

If you think only 3700 Americans have Coronavirus then keep thinking. How in the hell can there only be a couple infected in each and every state? There will be millions infected with Coronavirus that won’t ever know that they contracted the virus, never tested and never display a single symptom.

 

And crooked Donald downplays everything.

nope, I am saying not everyone has been tested, living or recently deceased, did you think they were?

 

Expect to see the military brought in shortly to begin building health facilities so our hospitals are not overwhelmed.

Hopefully when people start seeing the trucks and uniforms they’ll start taking this more seriously.

 

The recently deceased were tested through pathology. When a person dies in the US for a non traumatic reason an autopsy is required and the cause of death is determined plus all underlying issues leading to the cause of that death. Coronavirus would have easily been detected in any dead person.
