In case you missed it, the supposedly “moderate” candidate running for the Dem nomination for president had this to say at last night’s debate:

Yes, America, you heard that right:

“No more subsidies for fossil fuel industry, no more drilling on federal lands, no more drilling including offshore, no ability for the oil industry to continue to drill. Period. Ends.”

Not surprisingly, the LW MSM appears to be shoving Biden’s radical proposal down the Memory Hole. Perhaps, they remember how Hillary Clinton’s comments about putting American coal miners out of work didn’t work out so well for her, but you can bet this gift will keep giving in Trump’s campaign ads during the general election campaign. I don’t think a lot of Americans are going to support higher energy prices, putting oil workers out of work, eliminating heating subsidies for the poor, harming our economy and national security so the Left can ram its eco-socialist power grab down our throats.

So much for “moderate” Joe Biden and how he will temper the extremism in the Democratic Party.

the reality is, the price of oil has dropped so much, they wont want too until the price rises again

but why should we give subsidies to the rich oil companies?

Oil producing states in the US are going to be hard hit.
That economic boom in North Dakota is going to end. No telling if that will just be temporary. There will at least be a temporary recession in that state.
Which may not be too bad, because everyone there has been told to prepare for something like this.
People with big incomes have only had modest houses built because they are unsure if their entire family might have to pick up and move.

US oil producers can't compete with foreign imports when the price drops below a certain threshold. Since the US has poorer quality oil deposits that are more expensive to extract.

Anyway, this panic is certainly leading to a big drop in CO2 emissions, even if temporarily.

It’s amazing how Dem presidential candidates are so eager to put Americans out of work…

It won't move the needle or change one vote.

Anybody who would care has no intention of voting for Biden anyway.

Trump says that is good, lower prices at the pump

"Trump downplays oil plunge, coronavirus as markets tank: ‘Life & the economy go on’"

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/03/09/tru...nsumer-as-he-blames-media-for-stock-drop.html

"“Good for the consumer, gasoline prices coming down!” Trump wrote in one of a series of posts on Twitter."

    https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1237024549046288385

for some states will be hard hit, for others will be a huge stimulus

Hey, the terrorists have got to get their funding from somewhere, and it takes a lot of money to maintain those harems of 20 women.

when it comes to resources like oil, I say import when cheaper, save our resources for when they run out of cheap oil, future Americans will be glad we did

Lower prices at the pump is good. SA and Russia arguing over the price and causing it to go down is good. I don't agree that buying from SA is good, nor does it sound like thats that Trump was saying. I'd take higher prices to support US (and CA and Mexico) oil companies over ME and Russian companies.

I would take lower prices at the pump to save our oil resources for future generations of Americans

The future is in innovation and making our infrastructure more energy efficient. Going green doesn't have to mean zero growth. Just by changing our building codes to make buildings more efficient we could drastically cut emissions This was supposed to happen for federal buildings under Bush but was never funded:

That was part 3 of a 7 part series on TRNN if anyone is interested. Moving away from fossil fuels does not have to kill jobs Innovate creates jobs.

Good for Biden. We cannot continue to burn fuels that are derived from past mass species extinctions in dead forests and expect to have no consequences. Drilling in the Arctic wildlife refuge as Trump is allowing would be disastrous.

Course the fossil fuel industry and their mouthpieces in the corporate media will be apoplectic. Nothing new there.

repubs want us to pay more for oil and use up all our resources, rather then save them for future generations of Americans

I am supremely confident that is possible to give people new jobs, even within the energy sector, that are better for the environment.

Thats not the worst idea either - use up the worlds oil while maintaining our own reserve. The problem with that is that the world keeps finding more oil. The ME isn't running out soon.

Better imo to have as little reason to be involved in that mess as possible. We have plenty of less violent, more stable oil producers to deal with.

The price of oil has gone down since the dems lost power. Yes the gop wants us to use our natural resources and not be dependent on Iran or Putin like the dems want

Where was this concern for Sweet Mother Earth when his son was making millions at a foreign energy company? This guy must really, really want to sniff Greta's hair...
