if anyone remember news in 2018 where Trump remove head of global health security, now 2 years later we aren't prepare for the COV19. i'm curious what people think about this, cause we usually dont go back this far on news. but i think the unpreparedness we had today was cumulative when health funding start getting cut, and various health office been removed little by little in favor of military defense, which eventually lid to today situation of delay and unpreparedness.

furthermore CDC budget was cut, year by year, much less than our military budget.

This was already discussed, about ten days ago on more than one thread.

Yes, you're right. In 2014, responding to the ebola outbreak in Africa, the Obama administration created a network of professionals tasked with coordinating our response to epidemics/pandemics, including everything from ensuring that we can test for a virus and that we coordinate with the rest of the world to contain it, and create a vaccine if possible. Some of those professionals were assigned to represent that network in the National Security Council, the folks whose job it is to make sure the sitting president has accurate, up-to-date information on whatever virus we're fighting.

Yes, Trump fired those NSC people in 2018, gutted the entire response network, and drastically cut funding for the CDC and the NIH.

Yamiche Alcindor of the PBS News Hour asked him about that on Friday in the Rose Garden oress conference, and his response was typical Trump: "I'm not responsible."

His many supporters on this forum fully support that statement, as always.

That's fear mongering. Under Trump, the CDC budget is 10 billion dollars with 11 thousand employees. USAID has 4 thousand employees with a budget of 28 billion. The NSC is fully staffed and funded. The dissolving of Obama's specialized task force merely caused its responsibilities to be absorbed by the other agencies. So essentially we have a force of fifteen thousand specialists with a budget of forty billion dollars to address any threat that emerges. And that has been the case from the start. Reorganizing your tool shed and eliminating the bin for half inch nuts/bolts is not going to damn your ability to maintain your home. There is zero evidence that Obama's team would have gotten us to a better place than where we are now, which is a pretty good place, imo.

And apparently you like to fool yourself, somehow living in the false reality that Drumpf has done this country good.

I think false reality is an oxymoron. I still don't understand what you mean by this country. You aren't in the same one as I am.

    Fearmongering? Horse pucky.

The amount of money Trump has pushed towards the CDC and other agencies is useless if the administration doesn't know how to handle a pandemic, and over the last weeks, they have proven that they are out of their depth. Thankfully, Trump has retained at least a few true professionals and seems to be listening to them now. Better late than never.

The administration was simply following the conservative principle of drowning government in the bathtub. You can see it in the budgets. Reallocated dollars for controls for pollution (air, water), climate, and health to other priorities like the space force or reallocated dollars from protecting people to pass throughs for corporations or the usual that occurs in a Republican administration.

The OP is a list of things that didn't happen:
    • health funding start getting cut
    • various health office been removed little by little
    • CDC budget was cut, year by year.

Don't get me wrong, I WISH President Trump was able to shrink the size and scope of the federal government, but it's got an immense amount of inertia that he hasn't been able to overcome to any meaningful extent yet.

    reading comprehension classes required!

"The position was eliminated, although John Bolton, then-national security adviser, was the person directly responsible" does not equal "Trump ... getting rid of a pandemic response position on the National Security Council"

...unless you believe that the president just happened to be prescient enough to can someone two years before the outbreak!

Probably. But if I had also just picked out a quote or two they would have focused on that and ignored everything else in their attempt to spin. So really its 6 to 1 half dozen to the other. I chose to save myself some time. ;)

I guess the overblowing of this outbreak makes sense. I wonder who cooked this one up? Surely the usual suspects...

Must hate Trump, must hate Trump.....and the beat goes on. It must be exhausting feeding, maintaining, and hurling that witchy ball of fire. Is it a compulsion?

Sir, there was no ad hominem. I did not address you personally. I was addressing your post. Your post contained
    1. internet screaming
    2. predictable, oft repeated, to wit, repetitious hot button verbiage
    3. and intentional vitriol
My post called attention to the fact that your post was too mundane to adequately express what appeared the requisite acrimony.

I'm not familiar enough with you to even address you on a personal level...

There are many false realities promoted by the mainstream media. So many I've lost track.

One is Russia stole Hillary's election. Another is that muslims attacked us on 9/11. Another is that there are no other species in the universe but us. Depending on the media, another is that DJT is a great leader and is draining the swamp. Ad nauseam.
