This is silly. Where does the Bible say we should all run around slaughtering children? Are you claiming God is the source of the pro-abortion lobby's mass murder campaign?

Where and in what context? You're just distorting, and using some mental gymnastics of your own in claiming this is some universal 'rule' to be followed by Jews and Christians.

As it says in 1 Samuel 15:3 (CEB) = 3 So go! Attack the Amalekites; put everything that belongs to them under the ban.[a]Spare no one. Kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.”

Can you elucidate/clarify that last sentence? I presume the same applies for Muslims in relation to the Koran?

Then how come its largely historically inaccurate can't God get it right and truthfully He was there correct to pass it on?

I believe in God not holy books.

The real Dead Sea Scrolls are authenticated. These scraps were considered dubious even before the Museums Catalogue was printed.

No, that is not the case in islam. islam promotes the idea that the koran is the verbatim word of God.

Right. so in general, Muslims are more 'literalist' than Christians.

    So back to:

"The Word of God is "tested"..... by whom? The individual reading it? And how is it tested?

"it is the product of testing" ?? see above.... "what one infers from the bible".[/QUOTE]

Well yes no doubt "if one has faith, one can move mountains" said Jesus; but it's a pity Marcion's NT did not become the adopted scripture of Christians.

Not one person in 2,000 years has ever believed in the Jesus character because no one has ever passed his test.

The bible is not the Word of God

Correct, it's the word of men who wanted to use the story of a god as a way to keep people in line by imposing morality.

The above is a big question to be answering "defacto" the subject of much Philosophic debate over the centuries.

Certainly the depiction of the God YHWH in the OT is not that of a Good God .. who is this God that you are referring to ?

If one assumes that God is the author / Creator of the Universe then God is the author of both good and evil.
You could have been created as an autonomous robot ..forever praising God -over and over - for infinity - but you were not - and in that moment evil was born.

Your comment is silly - The Bible says that the Israelite's were to run around slaughtering Children. It was not written for YOU/ US !?

This is a weird leap into the logical abyss - in many ways.

You are claiming that people who are pro-choice - which has nothing to do with being pro abortion - are on some mass murder campaign.
Assumed Premise Fallacy - that the entity through all stages of pregnancy is a living human - with rights - including the right to life.. just like the rest of us folk.

Not sure if this is your first time to the party but - the whole debate is about whether or not this entity is a living human. To just assume that premise - with zero justification - is rude - and fallacious gibberish.

Now how we are to connect YHWH to this is another mind bending affair - do explain por favor.

None? There probably have been some people who became enlightened in several religions. Passing the test .

Man has always used their god to justify thieving and murder.

The creator isnt that imperfect and immoral, evil. Man made it up.

The Jesus character said that people who have faith can do specific things. Not one person has ever been able to do any of those things.

In Post #52 the comment was: "This is silly. Where does the Bible say we should all run around slaughtering children?"

I cited a passage that shows that the Bible says to slaughter children.

This is clearly a distinction without a difference.

I'm not sure what you are trying for here, but do not expect ANY of thos who believe in any of the Abrahamic faiths to change their mind based on you idea.

Good is what God is; evil is what God is not. God reveals both good and evil. God reveals both what He is and what He is not because anything, even God, is revealed just as much by what it is not as it is by what it is.

You can make up what ever definition you like for God - and the Aeon you have pointed out is a nice one - one characteristic of the Godhead.

and at the end of the day - your guess is as good a mine . Everyone has their own definition and one is as good as the other.

The folks who invented YHWH had a far different definition than yours :)

Created - not "revealed" - you are on a different page. God created Evil - in creating a capacity to do Evil - in Humans.

And, it seems the God of the Bible violates his own commandments, at times, at a mass scale.
