    What a weird world....

Mitt Romney is calling for every American adult to be GIVEN a check for $1,000....

His proposal comes after two Democratic congressmen — Ohio’s Tim Ryan and California’s Ro Khanna — proposed on Friday that the government send a check worth between $1,000 and $6,000 to every American who earned less than $65,000 last year.

I don't believe it! Just a couple of months ago, I was berating Romney like he was the scum of the Earth, and raging against Democrats for treating Trump like sh!t during the 'Impeachment".

Here we are now, and it is Trump who is yanking thousands of dollars out of my pockets by raving, threatening the Fed, and raising hell in favor of slashing interest rates on savings accounts and CD's, and Romney who wants to just give us each a grand! Plus, these horrible Democrats want to just pour money all over us in varying amounts. I'm trying to find a way to tell myself that I wouldn't actually LIKE this.... :confusion:

So, hell, maybe I've had this thing all wrong. Maybe it's Trump who is my real enemy, and Romney and the Democrats are worth supporting after all. When you mash all the air bubbles out of it, what I've gotten from Trump is a lot of talk and crippling blows to my savings accounts! I might like to try something else... and use my free money to buy a nice, new 65" OLED Smart TV!

[IMG]. "Oh, yeah...? Vote for me and you can get TWO or THREE of those TV's...."

Trump was always just an opportunist masquerading as a conservative. I think the only political position he really believes is that our trade deals suck....probably because they don’t benefit him enough.

Well, just remember that Trump needs to approve it to get it passed. And, it looks like Trump is going to support it. So, give him some credit. I have.

Whatever Romney suggests today is probably not a good idea even if he forgets what he said ,yet stands by whatever he said Tomorrow

Dirty Donald is neither a conservative nor a liberal he is a political opportunist without ethics or morals, who will go whichever way the wind is blowing.

Actually he’s been quite consistent in his life. Opinions and views he had over 20 yrs ago he’s repeated today. Don’t be a purveyor of fake news.

If you want to talk about blowing with the winds, ask Obama and Clinton about gay marriage before 08 when they might lose some votes then afterwards when they saw it wouod help them? Talk about complete phonies.

If that was true he wouldn't be putting much effort into keeping his campaign promises. In fact he's done so well in that department that haters have to keep going back to the same old Mexico will pay for the wall shtick to claim he's breaking his promises.

How would banks and others that offer check cashing handle the rush?

How many people will contract the virus from this situation alone?

    Wierd.

$1000 would not make a dent in the amount I have sent the government in taxes. How about a full refund for the 8 years obama was in office?

I think this is a colossal waste of money.
Bush sent $600 checks 11 years ago. I don’t remember seeing how these money helped the economy.
We didn’t catch up with the additional debt generated by those $600 checks and now we are about to spend more.
Instead of mindlessly giving away the money, why not use it to increase (temporary) unemployment benefits and extend them to 18-24 months from current 6. People who won’t have a job for extended period will need the money.

The memories of 2009 recession are coming back to me. I was working as a controller at a plant back then. I needed an accounting assistant for $11/hour. I remember receiving over 100 resumes each day for $11/hour job. Some of those resumes were from people who had a masters degree in accounting and CPA. You could see that people were desperate to get any job that pays. In comparison, a couple of years ago we needed a staff accountant, good for fresh college graduates with starting salary of $50k and we struggled to get applicants - from entire marketing campaign we were lucky to see resumes from people to have any 4 year degree and were getting just a couple of hits from truly qualified individuals with Bachelors in accounting degrees.

I hope this recession will be mild, but today’s report from LA Times that at least 18% of the US workforce saw their hours cut or were laid off is not very reassuring. If we seriously damage our economy by this madness these $1000 that each soul gets will disappear like a fart in the wind.

Now the Republicans are pandering to the low information voters. Why only $1000? Why not $10,000? Why not just suspend the laws of economics and bring AOC on board to run things? What about the people who make more than $65,000 and pay taxes? Do we get a handout?

Does anyone give a flying [expletive] about the debt and the fact the money is borrowed to pay our growing and catastrophic debt? Apparently not.

I'm assuming the government would send paper checks.
