This order will impact 40 million people and likely crumble the economy.

The same governor refuses to prosecute illegal alien criminals, and in fact gives them free healthcare.

I don't see how this will be enforceable.

There is also talk that the leftist governor may suspend gun purchases.

    It's not just CA.

THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE: A Global Level 4 Health Advisory. All Americans abroad told to come home. All Americans at home told not to plan international travel.

“If you choose to travel internationally, your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite timeframe.”

Trump eyes grounding jets, halting stock trading, and ordering shelter in place.

“European nations are also considering grounding passenger jets. There are some internal government models that show that the number of people infected in the coming two months could reach over 5 million.”

“The moves were described as very seriously being discussed and not imminent. However, we were also told that decisions are moving fast at the top levels of the administration.”

Would this travel ban include say a Leonardo DIcaprio flying around the world on his private jet to promote lowering CO2 in the atmosphere? And does this stay at home order mean homeless people have a right to camp out In place?

Are you really so out of touch with reality to believe that a recession can be avoided?

China has managed to stabilize its infected population by locking down 160 million citizens.

Within 10 days, if Trump doesn't give the directive to imitate California in the other most affected states, the situation will get out of control... Already Trump has been in reaction mode since the beginning of the crisis.

The state governors are first up on this type of thing.

I have no doubt the democrats would love a recession.

Basically, the only thing you want is for the pandemic to have no impact on Trump's popularity.

And now, we've lost more human rights and civil liberties in 96 hours then in the entirety of the Republic's existence. The interesting thing is when Dr. Farci said in a CNN interview that likely they'll have to deal with it NEXT summer. So...why are we doing this?

Why are we destroying our rights, liberties and freedoms as well as our economic system, for something we'll have to deal with next summer?

Don't healthy people have the right not to be around sick people who might kill them?

    You have two options:

1- Put individual liberties first and the economy totally collapses.

2- Take drastic measures to eradicate the pandemic and lessen the impact of a recession.

ROFL. This "plan" caused the financial collapse. And now it's causing massive human rights violations. Essentially, we are tearing down the entire United States.

Lots of people are going to lose guns in boating accidents I'd guess.

Since gun stores are "non essential" I can easily see them closing down.

We shall see what we shall see.

    :roflol:

    Lolwut?

I just Googled "California suspend gun purchases" and I got this:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=cal...hrome..69i57.17119j0j4&sourceid=silk&ie=UTF-8

    ^Just a bunch of stuff from 2019

    Nothing recent.

Nothing even remotely related to coronavirus.

Did you just make that up?

Is that one of those things like:

"There is also talk that Bat Boy and the Roswell Aliens Will Seize Power in DC at 9 AM (EST)"

^That sort of thing? Got it.

    "There is also talk..." :roflol:

Anyway, it is hard to imagine how something like that (shelter in place) could be enforced.

Gavin thinks think that 56% of the state could become infected.

    https://www.santacruzsentinel.com/2...e-infected-with-coronavirus-in-8-week-period/

^See, i actually have a link for that claim.

Best of Luck to everyone in Cali (and everywhere).:salute:

AJ, are gun stores considered "essential" in the eyes of the (antigun) state?

If infection is slowed, the hospitals are less likely to be overwhelmed, and fewer severe cases will result in death because they will be optimally cared for. Hospitals can't handle 5% of the population having respiratory failure all at once. Many would die just from no doctor or ventilator being available in time.

The bottom line is saving lives. And it was always assumed that civil liberties can be temporarily suspended in emergencies if it serves to save lives. Obviously can be taken too far, and the rate of their escalating response makes me worry what's next, but so far it doesn't seem unreasonable.

Let's look back at our human history: When has the government(foreign or not) ever been reasonable? These escalations and even the initial requests, are an encroachment of our dignity and frankly insulting for the United States.

Of course, I will as always obey the law but that doesn't mean I won't speak out against it, since I presume the first amendment still applies.

Rights cannot be absolute because they can come into conflict with each other. This is a life vs free assembly scenario. Usually the best thing is to allow free assembly, but this is different because it spreads a deadly disease and increases the chance of harm to innocent 3rd parties who did not freely partake in assembling during a deadly pandemic. This is because the odds of getting it sooner are going to increase with the proportion infected, as most of us cannot completely stop interacting with others. Limiting non-essential interaction is a reasonable step.

Here we go! The Republicans can't live another day without running out to buy another dozen machine guns and 10,000 rounds of armor-piercing ammo!

Geez, more guns have been bought since Obama was elected since WW2, I swear!

Now the governor of California asking people to stay home for a week except for people who have to work means we need another World War?

Hey, maybe a little of this terror and money and effort could be used to drop some food and health supplies for old folks and children! There was some guy from 2000 years ago suggested to do that FIRST, then go buy the second or 3rd gross of "defensive weapons" that kill anything that moves.

    Just a thought....

Most gun buyers right now are first time gun owners.

You can't purchase machine guns here, and where they can be purchased they are expensive.

Who said this was a week long?

The question isn't how long the virus will last. The question is how long the hysteria will last.

Between the "stay at home" orders and the fact that so many businesses are closing down (and people not being able to earn money), I wonder if any illegals will choose to return home.

Meanwhile in LA the raw sewage from 60,000 is flowing through the storm drain system directly into the Pacific Ocean.
