Some residents in Northern California have resorted to cutting up T-shirts to replace toilet paper amid a growing shortage, causing sewer blockages.

Waste Management officials in Redding - population 91,800 - this week issued a warning to the public, reminding local residents that flushing anything other than toilet paper down the drain could cause serious backups. If the city's sewage system gets clogged, if could send fecal matter back up into showers, toilets and sinks.

    More coronavirus winning from California.

This is of course the type of thing that can spread additional diseases.

Perhaps the governor can inform the masses about alternatives to toilet paper.

Californians have sewers now? When did that happen I thought they used lawns, sidewalks and supermarket aisles.

They are warning people not to flush Clorox wipes or other similar wipes as they do not shred easily and biodegrade causing sewerage blockages.

Hasn't anyone else heard of wet wipes? I'm not having any trouble finding them in bulk, plus they're way better than toilet papper anyways.

The H1N1 flu was more deadly than Covid 19.

The only difference was we had a level-headed, deliberate person running the country back then and people didn't panic.
Nobody trust Trump to handle a crisis. That's why this has gotten so out of hand. Trump has made getting people
to distrust the government his personal goal for the last three years - so why are conservatives surprised that people
aren't trusting the government to handle this health crisis.

That's the difference. H1N1 was deadlier, but we didn't run out of toilet paper. Trump is in charge for this crisis - and people panicked. It ain't rocket science.

I'd say "how fricking stupid are people", but the coronavirus (and this forum and Facebook) has shown us people are actually even stupider than I thought. Hoarding toilet paper, flushing things any adult should know you don't flush, trying to make hand sanitizer by mixing bleach and alcohol, crowding into Florida for Spring Break, the CDC having to teach people how to wash their hands, idiots who think you can drink bleach, people who claim the CDC is "fake news", greedy millennials who want their college debts forgiven as part of the coronavirus aid package, and every other display of selfishness and dumbassery I've seen on Facebook in the last week. God help us all.
