This is a terrible mistake, same as means testing SS would be.

Trump will seek to kill this bill if he is excluded. OR on other ways sabotage things. He only cares about himself, his ego and his family, as they reflect on HIM.

Trump does not give a damn about you, me or this country. We need to pony up the bucks to keep him happy or we all will suffer.

THIS is why we made Jimmy Carter give up his peanut farm. This is why they are supposed to divest.

So employees and their families are less important if they happen to work a "Trump" company? We should suffer if unions don't receive more power?

To think that any politician cares about you would reveal extreme gullibility.

Actually all members of Congress and all heads of executive agencies were banned for getting any relief of companies they run.

Trump doesn't run his former company

It actually excludes all business owned or controlled by by any member of Congress or the White House or their immediate family. I don’t know how I feel about it.

On the one hand if a business is struggling because of something that isn’t it’s fault they should receive aid — on the other hand it is an interesting proposal to eliminate possible conflicts of interest.

Hopefully trump does the right thing — I think he will

It's not just Trump it includes the VP, members of Congress, cabinet members, and even family members. The title is misleading and trying to make all about Trump is disingenuous...

It would be possible if the circumstances weren't so extreme.

If he vetoes it, there'll be riots. He will carry the stigma of this failure for the rest of this country's history and his chances of re-election,
already very low, will become nil.

    I'll bet he signs it.

He didn't put his companies in a blind trust, so he's out of the deal.

The irony is that he fought against all the critics in order not to detach himself from his company and today that's what will probably drive him to bankruptcy.

Didn't realize it included children....seems rather silly... his sons should resign from there positions and just turn it over to Allen Weisselberg for the foreseeable future.

but dems going after maids, grounds keepers, waiters, cooks etc working a hard job at a hotel is really not surprising....

The legislation says nothing about a blind trust...it's just control. ....Trump doesn't control the Trump Organization

That is fair as Congress is excluded also, the OP title is misleading.

Just because he says it doesn't mean it's true.

Trump is still the majority shareholder in his company.

Don't let your hatred of Trump, the man, blind you to the fact that 1) the Trump Organization consists of +/- 500 business entities, employing who-know-how-many people, and 2) Trump and Ivanka both resigned after Trump was elected.

Why do you attack me, for saying Trump companies should get the same as others?

The MISTAKE, is letting Trump tell us to pound sand, on his taxes, his companies and all other norms. THAT is the mistake. And then we wouldn't be here.

If you're going to survive here, you're going to have to develop a thicker skin. Nobody has attacked you on this thread. But be prepared to have your extremist views challenged, it's nothing personal.....

Having shares in a company doesn't mean you control it. The CEO, CFO etc are the ones controlling it.

Trump already agreed to this and the fact is they are hurting employees not Trump, it just shows how stupid petty this has all become.

It could be ruled a bill of attainder as it targets a special group of individuals for "punishment" under the law. It could also keep vitally needed housing space for people in need. What about members of Congress who have stock in Hilton or Marriot does it mean those properties cannot receive the bridge loans because members of Congress will benefit? Will all their family members have to submit financial disclosures about ALL their holdings. What if all the Trump properties go out of business will all the employees and suppliers and their employees get to watch the parade of the leftist and Dems dance down the street celebrating.

This is once again the get Trump and attack Trump at all cost of the left rearing its ugly head without thinking about the consequences.

Trying to make it all about Trump is about doing what they've done for the past 3 years: Attack this man, relentlessly. Not merely for things they disagree with, but they disagree with his very existence itself.(And that is the #1 symptom of TDS.). What they don't recognize, what they'll never recognize is the fact that Trump gave his OKAY to this, even though it goes against what he campaigned for and how he was governing up to this moment.

In other words, Trump responded to the moment(which you would give applause, or even slight appraisal.) Nope, this is Donald Trump. The incarnation of Hitler himself, the embodiment of all bad!(Sarcasm, as I'm sure you know.). We can never praise anything he does, or work together on anything of his. And even when we do, gotta take a dig.

Shareholders might certainly...that’s true for any shareholder. I got shares in lots of companies I’ve profited from over the years. Doesn’t mean I control them

So what? Dirty Donny owns the Trump organisation and is sole or majority shareholder in all the companies.

So if any of those companies get money, it benefits him. Fortunately this bill ensures that no company owned or controlled by a member of Congress, VP or POTUS will get any of the money. So he won't get any.

    That's as it should be.
