Word is that it was bi partisan before the vote. Then Pelosi and Schumer pow wow'd, and the Dems backed out, resulting in a 47-47 finale. Several Senators were quarantined and didn't vote.

So Covid19 sprang into being from the WHO data sheets. Wow, that's a curious one. Can we then call it the WHO Flu?

Unlike the 2009 massive federal stimulus legislation that received no Republican votes in the House and only 3 in the Senate, I expect that, once it is refined, Trump's massive federal stimulus will receive overwhelming bipartisan support.

Some of the Democratic proposals are meritorious, and will improve the plan. Others are merely negotiating tools and will be abandoned after they have served their purpose.

I anticipate that will occur shortly.

In the meantime, hyper-partisan hysteria is not helpful.

I think some of them would happily set themselves on fire rather than admit Trump was correct.

As I recall, Democrats had a super majority in the House, Senate, and Executive, that rejected all Republican input and concerns.

Andrew Cuomo has shown himself to be a strong leader while Trump has shown how weak he is. There is nothing the Democrats could do to put Trump’s leadership skills in as bad a light as Trump himself has done himself over the past couple weeks.

What has Trump been correct about? Didn’t he say the number infected was something like 15 and soon to none. He really hit that one on the head!

The bill that the Republicans put on the floor was a bipartisan bill that the Democrats had all been in agreement with and even helped write before it went up to a vote. The Republicans stayed at the office all week instead of going on their usual recess vacation in order to work on drafting this bill. Nancy Pelosi took the entire week off. She went on vacation, the entire House went on extended vacation during a national crisis, and then came back from that to slap the bipartisan bill off of the table and slap her own purely partisan pork pile bill in its place.

This was already agreed on. They worked on the original bill together, and Nancy swept back from vacation at the 11th hour and threw it on the floor. I have no qualms whatsoever in laying the fault at the feet of Pelosi and the rest of the House Democrats. It's absolutely absurd that they could draft up a 1,400 page bill of their own over the course of a single weekend. They were clearly planning the bait-and-switch the entire time.

If you don't see all that as despicable, self-serving, foot-dragging, double-dealing politics at the expense of a suffering American public, then you are just hopelessly out of touch with reality.

Obama had made concessions to Republicans from the outset — offering tax cuts to garner GOP backing, among other accommodations, Nevertheless, Republicans remained overwhelmingly opposed and registered a long list of grievances.

Did Republicans have the bargaining power that Democrats have now? No, of course not. At the time, they were a small congressional minority whose Party had overseen the economic collapse that Obama was determined to redress - the Bush/Cheney Great Recession.

Despite so little GOP support, the legislation passed and 10+ years of economic growth ensued.

A bipartisan bill is now in the works, and its passage virtually insured.

Simply put, I think democrats are trying harder to get Trump re-elected than Trump is.

Between being on the way to nominating a fool like Biden, the impeachment blunder, and the response to this pandemic, the inept leadership of the Democratic Party have all but assured four more years of Donald Trump.

I had no problem calling it COVID19 when it first started, but then China's lies and coverups were revealed, and then the left took it upon themselves to become complicit in the lies and disinformation, because Orange Man bad, and so now I will call it by its proper name-

    Chickety China the Chinese Sicken

    Because screw you, that's why.

I think the average thinking Democrat has to be shaking in his/her boots. Their congressional leaders are doing all they can to bring down the country and their probable presidential candidate is an evident bumbling imbecile.

Why is it that when facts don't support what some people want them to they ignore the facts and begin name calling? How is this good for America?

The fact that COVID-19 stands for coronavirus disease of 2019. And the fact that you are telling people who might disagree with you, "because screw you, that's why" That is not support for an argument based on fact. It is disrespectful and rude.
