    Good morning, y'all. Yeah, they talked about closing liquor stores in Ft Worth recently and a doctor said DON'T YOU DARE! The threat of being quarantined with an alcoholic going thru DTs is scarier than any virus!

    Near Johnson City., Texas.

    I’ve got 4 gallons of hard cider that is ready for consumption. Probably somewhere around 12% ABV.
    Neener neener!

    I was just thinking. If I can't get the lovely Mrs Texan to make me that cake, I'd trade 18 home grown fresh eggs for a cake like that. I'd meet you anywhere in Ellis County and I would bring my Mrs to keep everything on the up and up. I won't be offended with a no. I understand and appreciate privacy.

    LOL, appreciate the offer but if you knew how I have to force myself to bake, you'd understand why I have to pass! My mom made cooking look so easy. I didn't inherit that gene!

    Ellis County is a hop, skip & jump from me. Y'all don't sell those fresh eggs, do ya? :)

    I sell them when I have extra. I've been giving to family and friends a little more lately because of the shortages. I average 6-7/day lately. I hope at least one of my ducklings is a female. I'm anxious to try duck eggs this summer.

    I'll give you a dozen just to meet you if you like. Mrs Texan will chaperone. Bring your own if you like. No hugs or handshakes. We'd probably need to wait until the lockdown is over unless we multitask by meeting at a grocery store.

    12 % is the nominal percent for Real Wine.Some good Reds go
    13% - 14 %.Beer { average pilsner like Budweiser is 3.4 % ABV }
    However today's craft beers or Microbrewery offerings go 6 - 9 %.
    Stuff like Thunderbird or MD 20/20 run 17.5 % MD 20/20 used to be
    a full 20 % back in my college days.
    Yer best bet is a Port { at 20 % }. Preferably a Tawny { amberish }
    Vintage Port is deep purple and often needs to be decanted.
    I used to always Self-Decanter Meself before posting at this
    pop stand.Not so mush any mores.

    Sounds like a plan! I saw a pic of a bunch of gfs who met in an empty parking lot, backed in a circle, 10 ft apart, sat on their tailgates and had lunch & chit chat for an hr or so! Sounding pretty good to me!

    BTW, I'm not scared to meet online friends and encourage folks to let me know if you're coming thru Dallas and we'll see if we can't meet for coffee or something. Heck, I played on match.com & such for a couple of years. I'm not scared to meet strangers! (On my turf & terms, of course) ;)

    Johnson City has beautiful bluebonnets. We were there one bluebonnet season, although we didn't know it was bluebonnet season. We were newbies to Texas after seeing the wildflowers I was hooked. Johnson City is a neat place to visit they also have very clean places to stay.

    Last night all the alerts on the cell phones went off, telling people to stay home if they were 65 and over. Our Governor has closed the state to anyone from some of the hot spot states, I read that Texas was going to do the same thing.

    Just for the record.What kind of yeast is required for Apple Wine.
    Plus what it needs for the basics { the mash or wort }.
    Apple what.? Pulp.It seems very undisciplined.Folk get a kick out
    of talking { boasting } over how they made some variant of Booze.
    But I learned as a Homebrewer how truly difficult it can be.
    My High school/College best friend was a genius.Could fix just about
    anything mechanical.Or Electrical.He went to college for an
    Electoral Engineer degree.His Father ran a business as an electronics
    parts distributor.They had a small TV/RAdio shop in their basement.
    This Best friend also was great with fixing diagnosing car engines.
    Not motorcycles because he was afraid of what he would do on a motorcycle.
    He loves to hot rod around in cars.
    So in the late 90's after we started hooking up again { After my Dad died }
    he visited a few times.He was a Beer nut.But never anything costly.
    In fact,usually only the cheap On sale stuff.He tried one of my Homebrews
    on one of his visits and was kinda blown away.So he told his wife who
    bought him for Christmas one of the really simple and small Starter Homebrew
    kits.I think the fementer was a 2 gallon plastic jug like a small beer keg.
    With stands to sit on it's side.Kinda kiddie like.Well he wasn't at all serious
    about results and kinda hurried the process and kept screwing up.
    I explained to him the basics and he thought it should all be a piece of
    cake.Stuff like making sure to put in a place to ferment at a steady temp.
    Watch and see if it's actually working.The pop-off valve will tell ya if the
    yeast are doing their thing.Plus wait.You have to wait weeks.At least 6.
    He dint like waiting and following home brew quidelines.
    He gave it up.Only because he wasn't disciplined.And he was by nature
    a guy who I don't remember ever giving up on projects.

    I used to wonder what LBJ and GWB saw in that part of Texas, but after spending some time there, I understand. ;)

    Nobody from work has contacted us about extending our Telework agreement. We were supposed to return to the office tomorrow. Since the city is closed down, assume we're working from home but it's not like them to leave an order unspoken. :salute:
