    What would "quarantine" entail?

It came here by ships and by airplanes. There are crews on ships and even with fast turnaround container freight the crews often get off, if just to walk about on the yard a little. Airplanes have pilots and again, the pilots get off, if only to talk to the Customs, but often they rest and another crew gets on, who may have just come here themselves.

It startles me how conservatives often seem to think we can just button the entirety of the USA up tighter than countries were even in Medieval times, and do it with a sweeping ban on "travel' while still continuing the full panoply of individual movements modern trade requires.

Cuomo threatened civil war if this quarantine was imposed.

The Dems say Feds not doing enough. When quarantine suggested, they scream illegal act of war! Moron much?

AFAIK no state can set up border checkpoints to keep out people from another state in the US. I think that's in the Constitution. I have heard of checkpoints having to do with plant diseases and insect pests but I would think they'd be highly problematic as well.

I don't care how high my taxes are, were I in CA you couldn't drag me out with a bulldozer, especially not to go to States which are summertime deserts covered by glaciers in the winter.

Feel free to enumerate the state laws that give them the right to shut down business and force people to stay home.

Suppose most business have to get a license of some sort to do business. They could just pull them? Idk it’s a good question though

States may have some legal right to force businesses to close but I'm unaware as to what specific law gives them that power.

I agree with all of that accept that you couldn't get me to enter California anymore. My family is from California. I used to spend a lot of time in California. We would hike on the Muir trail every year. I spent a lot of time around Tahoe and Donner pass. The place is turning into a literal **** hole and the taxes are way to high.

How did you interpret "whether that statute law is constitutional is a different story?"

You made the claim so it's your responsibility to verify it not mine. Apparently you can not do so.

As you stated there's a law that the CDC can quarantine states which makes enacting that law constitutional. If some entity wanted to challenge the law on constitutional grounds they could certainly do so.

Passage of statute law is not a guarantee that the law is constitutional.

God, pols get so damned silly. How would Cuomo go to war and how would Trump impose a quarantine?

I was hearing this guy on the radio yesterday who was saying that the quickest way of lifting this shutdown and thus helping the economy is to test lots more people because then we might be able to lift it in areas where there's not any and clamp down in areas where there are lots. But I don't see where anyone is putting that as their main area of emphases.

I think you may be overestimating how many Americans would be ok with the Federal Government ordering something like that.

An enforceable federal quarantine would require federalization of state and local law enforcement, including State National Guards, acting under federal orders with the powers to overrule state authorities. I'd guess that's what Cuomo meant.

So you are one of those that mouths off but can’t back up your assertions with facts. Good to know and we can all now put you in the talks out ass category and treat your post accordingly.

Not interested in arguing with you over a moot point. Trump backed off from his quarantine idea.

I treat all posts here that way and assume most people do so with mine. This is not Reuters or the AP.

If I make a claim I’m prepared to back it up and I expect the same from others. If they can’t do so I don’t waste my time with them.

I just said he was a fookin idiot. And yes the moron in chief, senile and demented brain damaged narcissist did talk about Everything being good by Easter.

And here is his statement. The man is an idiot!

"I'd love to have it open by Easter," he said. "I would love to have that. It's such an important day for other reasons, but I'll make it an important day for this too. I would love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter."

In another interview with Fox News later Tuesday afternoon, Trump said he came up with the "Easter is a very special day for me."

"Wouldn't it be great to have all the churches full?" Trump added. "You'll have packed churches all over our country. I think it'll be a beautiful time."
