People existed before capitalism. I don't see why they won't exist after.

While I have a little gold squirreled away, I stock piled copper coated lead projectiles, primers and 100+# assorted types of Dupont accelerants..

So I'll be good for awhile!

It's what the dotcom crash was about.
It's what the housing boom/bust crash was all about.

My savings/investments are in storable food, ammo, tools and gold. Not because of the impending economic collapse, but because thats just how I'm wired to live.

I don't think that is true, I am sure you can trace barter all the way back to neanderthals, and barter is simple capitalism...

Barter is not capitalism. Fractional reserve banking is capitalism. You hit the nail on the head when you observed that debt creates inflation. Don't take your eye off the ball now!

Otherwise, the word has no meaning.

Its Congress' fault. They keep trying to outlaw the business cycle but have yet to succeed.

Trying to avoid recessions is like trying to avoid sleeping. You can do it for a while but the result is a crash.

"Recessions are the market's way of returning money to its rightful owners." James Grant, "Grants Interest Rate Observer."

Correction: Barter is capitalism, fractional reserve banking is socialism.

If songs of quality and substance like this replace rap crap, I'll be content.

Ridiculous. We've been fighting a deflationary trend for 25 years.

And that's likely to continue through this decade.

And you wonder why you folks aren't taken seriously?

It could happen but what has happened to the economy is artificial and short term, we should see an immediate difference after the election. I suspect that the Democrats are playing up the shutdowns to restrain the economy for political purposes. With so much chaos in America it's difficult to predict where we are going. I think we have to open up the country and the economy and I think that we'll learn that this virus is not the plague but none of that matters if we don't get a handle on these riots.I think any way you look at it, 2020 going into 2021 will be a rough ride. The one thing we need to do is to get back to being Americans and stop listening to the purveyors of magical solutions like Socialism. Before the pandemic we had a robust economy and were on our way to the stratosphere much like the post WWII years. We will survive this virus and we will recover economically but it's not going to be painless and not going to happen at all if we elect a Democrat in November.

I thought the ops was talking about depression. You know a recession lasting more than 2 years or a huge drop in real GDP. That usually means keep your assets liquid. Move investments from stocks and bonds into T-Bills etc... What you are preparing for is more of a zombie apocalypse thing.

I don't know about zombies, how about roving gangs of domestic terrorists? If things go full Portland nation wide that could become a reality. Fortunately the Antifa crowd and folks like them are mostly soft girlie men and fat unattractive mannish women who would freak at the reception they would get.
